Description
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Two 10" embroidery hoops
  • 1/2 yd 45" Home Essentials Home Decor fabric, body
  • 1/4 yd 45" Home Essentials Home Decor fabric: fins, tail, mouth
  • 1/2 yd Warm & Natural® batting
  • Felt for eyes
  • Fiberfill
  • Fabri-Tac® adhesive
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Pencil, ruler
  • Scissors
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Monofilament
DIRECTIONS: Refer to photo.
1. Use needle-nose pliers to remove metal closure from hoop. Glue inner and outer hoop together.

2. Lay hoop on back of Warm & Natural® batting. Trace the hoop. Mark additional 3/4" around the drawn circle. Cut out larger circle. Center & position hoop on circle. Stretch & glue Warm & Natural® batting tightly to hoop.

3. Lay batting-covered hoop on wrong side of fabric. Trace with pencil. Mark additional 1" around drawn circle. Cut out larger fabric circle. Center & position batting-covered hoop on fabric circle. Stretch & glue fabric tightly to hoop. Repeat with remaining hoop.

4. Enlarge pattern pieces to measurements indicated. Cut patterns for fins, tail & mouth. Fold contrast fabric, wrong side out. Trace patterns on fabric. Pin shapes together and cut out, allowing 3/4" around each shape.

5. Sew shapes together. Leave inside edges open for turning. Cut shapes 3/4" from stitching. Clip corners & curves. Turn shapes right side out; stuff with fiberfill. Shape and baste 3/4" from edges.

6. Glue fins, tail & mouth to inside edge of one hoop. Glue the hoops together with the fins, tail & mouth between them. Place on a hard surface. Place a heavy weight on top until glue dries completely.

7. Remove basting stitches. Distribute the fiberfill.

8. EYES: Cut two 2" felt circles for iris, two 1" felt circles for pupils and 2 smaller felt circles for highlights. Glue eyes in place. Use monofilament to hang mobile.
