The spring mechanism has failed and will no longer stay in cutting position when using cutter.
I have had mine for years. I have made literally hundreds of quilts and blankets combined. It has been a great tool until recently when it kept retracting, would not stay locked. These have a lifetime warranty so I hope to get a replacement. I plan to buy another in the meantime.
I own 8 of these from the smallest to the 60mm. They are great! Mine have been thru the war - I've quilted and scrapbooked with them. One even got left out in the rain - it cleaned up without a problem altho I chickened out on cleaning the blade (I'm not into slicing off fingers). My Girl Scouts have used them (even on cardboard) but the cutters survived. I've had them for 15+ years (from the old straight handles days) to the ergonomic handles which I really like. They definetely get a thumbs up from me!
I have two of these. I have had them for years and neither one of them has given me any problems. A value for the money.
I have one of these rotary cutters and liked it until I had to change the blade. Now the screw mechanism won't stay tightened. I thought I had done something wrong so I went to the Joann Shop to purchase a new one. The blade on this one (brand new never been changed) came loose after a few cuttings. Guess the price matches the performance as these are much less costly than Olfa's. I am planning on replacing this second Fiskars with an Olfa rotary cutter.
Nope - Not hitting the button. When I try and cut the blade will not stay down (open), locked in place. Very tedious trying to cut with.
I have cut 2 bed sized quilts with this cutter without any problems at all. It's so comfortable to use unlike the torture tools out there. Recently I've been cutting hundreds of squares through 4 layers also without any problems. I love this cutter so much that I would buy it again--maybe I should buy another in case Fiskars discontinues it.
After using this cutter for years it broke in use. I bought another and noticed the lifetime warranty on the package. I emailed Fiskars to see if the lifetime warranty applied to my old product. They replaced the original without question.
