Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Lion Brand® Textures®: Meadow 4 (6, 7) balls or color of choice
  • Lion Brand® knitting needles size 7 (4.5 mm)
  • Lion Brand® stitch markers
  • Lion Brand® large-eyed blunt needle
  • Circular knitting needle, size 7 (4.5 mm), 16" (40.5 cm) long
  • Tape measure
  • Scissors

    • SIZES:
    • S (M/L, 1X/2X)
    • Finished Bust About 37 (45, 53)" (94 (114.5, 134.5) cm)
    • Finished Length About 23 (24, 25)" (58.5 (61, 63.5) cm), not including collar
    • Note: Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to the appropriate size before beginning.

    • GAUGE:
    • 16 sts + 26 rows = about 4" (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS).
    • BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

    • NOTES:
    • Tunic is made in 2 identical pieces: Back and Front.
    • Each piece is worked back and forth in rows, beg at lower edge.
    • Collar is worked in the rnd on the circular needle.

    DIRECTIONS:

      • BACK
      • With straight needles, cast on 74 (90, 106) sts.
      • Knit 6 rows.
      • Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 15" (38 cm) from beg, end with a WS row as the last row you work.
      • Shape Armholes
      • Row 1 (RS): Bind off 11 (13, 15) sts, k to end of row – there will be 63 (77, 91) sts at the end of this row.
      • Row 2: Bind off 11 (13, 15) sts, p to end of row – 52 (64, 76) sts.
      • Work in St st until armholes measure about 8 (9, 10)" (20.5 (23, 25.5) cm), end with a WS row as the last row you work.
      • Shape Shoulders
      • Next Row (RS): Bind off 5 (7, 9) sts, k to last 5 (7, 9) sts, bind off last 5 (7, 9) sts – 42 (50, 58) sts.
      • Slip rem sts onto a length of yarn.

      • FRONT
      • Make same as Back, but do not slip sts onto a length of yarn.

      • FINISHING:
      • Collar
      • Slip sts from Back and from Front onto circular needle – 84 (100, 116) sts. Place marker for beg of rnd and join by working the first st on the left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle.
      • Work in St st worked in rnds (k every rnd) until collar measures about 9" (23 cm).
      • Next Rnd: Purl.
      • Next Rnd: Knit.
      • Rep last 2 rnds twice more.
      • Bind off.
      • Sew shoulder seams.
      • Sew side seams, leaving 5" (12.5 cm) unsewn at lower edge for side slits.
      • Weave in ends.
