  • Favorite cake recipe or mix (8 cups batter needed)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Make bow loops 1 day in advance. Use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out gum paste 1/8" thick. Use fondant trimmer to cut six strips, each 1" wide x 8" long; six strips, each 1" wide x 6" long; and five strips, each 1" wide x 4" long. Use damp brush to attach each strip's ends together to form loop, and allow to dry on its side overnight.
2. Make gift tag also 1 day in advance. Use fondant trimmer to cut rectangle from gum paste, 1-1/4" wide x 2-3/4" long. Use fondant trimmer to cut a small piece off of all corners. Use narrow end of tip 5 to make a hole. Allow to dry overnight.
3. Decorate bow loops and gift tag. Use pearl Color Mist food color spray to spray loops and gift tag. Use brush and small amount of black icing color mixed with lemon extract to brush edges of loops and gift tag. Allow to dry 30 to 40 minutes.
4. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake cakes and allow to cool. Tint icing rose. Torte, stack and fill for a 4-layer cake, 6" high.
5. Use spatula and rose icing to lightly ice cake smooth. Use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out fondant 1/8" thick. Cover cake with fondant.
6. Use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out black fondant 1/8" thick. Use fondant trimmer to cut strip, 1" wide x 18" long. Use damp brush to attach strip around the top part of cake, connecting the top piece of fondant. Use fondant trimmer to cut eight strips, each 1/2" wide x 5" long. Use damp brush to attach strips, vertically, to sides of cake 1" apart from each other.
7. Use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out black fondant 1/8" thick. Use fondant trimmer to cut circle, 6" dia. Use damp brush to attach to top of cake. Allow bow loops to cool in refrigerator for 15 minutes before using. Melt white Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Use melted white candy in cut disposable decorating bag to attach longest bow loops on top of fondant circle on cake. Use melted white candy in cut disposable decorating bag to attach second longest and then shortest loops to top of cake. Roll white fondant into log and string through gift tag hole. Use damp brush to attach fondant string to top of cake.
