I make teddy bears and other stuffed animals. Gutermann thread doesn't fray, break, or tangle like the other brands. It is the ONLY thread that I will use for both my teddy bears and for my personal sewing! I recently tried another thread and had noting but problems with it fraying and breaking. I wasn't positive that the thread would hold through stuffing the bear or the loving that a child would give the bear. My name is on the product that I make, and I will use only the best thread that I can buy...gutermann is that thread!!!
I like Guterman thread because of the extraordinary choice of colors that JoAnn carries, and I enjoy being able to find an exact match to the fabric I'm working with.
I love the Gutermann thread and won't use anything else but don't understand why in the store it is on sale for 50% off and online it's more. That was through today and I was going to order online since our store is moving and not restocking their shelves but at that price your offering I guess I'll have to wait til next time. Do not have an option of shopping elsewhere since there is no elsewhere.
i use a few brands (until i can clear out what keeps getting given to me! i only buy gutterman thread now. for gathering it's the best because it's nice and strong. C&C doesn't compare strength wise. i just bought 5 more spools today.
Have used many cheaper threads, and had frustration with gathering stitches breaking, bobbin thread shredding, etc. This thread is so strong! The best.
I prefer the Gutterman thread - it is the only brand I use now after experimenting with others. It's reliable and I use it on all of my quilts!
This thread is so strong because it is 100 percent polyester and I often recommend it to others as the best thread one can use for everyday projects. Thread that is 100 percent polyester is much less likely to break than threads mixed with or made entirely of cotton. I question, however, whether or not the 1000m spool actually contains 1000 meters of thread. The plastic spool has a thick cylindrical center and the thread did not seem to last very long. I'm sure the company wouldn't expect any of their customers to actually measure it, so who knows.
I have used this product for over ten years now and love it. I have used it to make prom dresses, casual clothing, curtains, bedspreads, pillows, christening outfits, etc. I love the strength and durablity of the thread. I do wish there were more colors available online, because I have moved and can no longer walk into a JoAnn's store. This thread is perfect for topstitching, nice and clean, no fuzzies.
