21 sts and 19 rows = about 4' over pattern stitch.
Be sure to check your gauge.
When matching the gauge in a pattern, the project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes fewer stitches and rows to make a 4' square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Note: Cowl is knit flat then seamed to form a tube.

Cast on 74 sts.
Row 1 and all WS Rows: K1, p to last st, k1.
Row 2 (RS): Knit.
Row 4: K1, *sl next 3 sts to cable need and hold in front of work, k3, k3 from cable needle, k6; rep from * to last st, k1.
