How To Get It
Use the Dritz 1.5'' 1.25Yds Heavy Stretch Waistband Knit Elastic Black for projects that require heavier fabrics. The pack contains 1.25 yards of 1.5-inch-wide heavy stretch waistband elastic. This stiff and super strong black elastic is ideal for cuff bands, waistbands, jacket waistbands and should be inserted into casings or stitched directly to the reverse side of fabrics. It is machine washable, dryable and chlorine-, saltwater safe.

Cinch in a too loose waistband
When a waistband is too loose,I slit the inside of the band on both sides and insert a length of the Dritz 1 1/2” wide elastic between the slits. Then I sew through all layers securely with zigzag stitch leaving a tail. After washing the slacks or jeans and determining the fit is comfortable, I cut off the remaining tail of the elastic. If too loose it tight remove one end of stitches and adjust the elastic using the remainder of the tail as needed.

No amazing project here. My daughter received a gift of a pair or expensive pants with a manufacturer’s error in them ( a twisted elastic in the waist). Returning them would have resulted in bruised feelings, so I replaced the waist . They fit!
