Homecrafters Deluxe Hardwood Scroll Frame 6" x12" is rated 0.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely disappointing I thought this frame would be perfect for my cross stitch projects, which I have trouble holding tightly, but would be damaged by a hoop. Unfortunately, it worked very poorly. I thought a two inch border would be enough to hold the fabric in place, but it slipped from the dowels every time I tightened the frame. Even when several inches were rolled up so that the fabric wouldn't slip as much, the frame did a very poor job of holding the fabric taught. The areas immediately beside the wing nuts were tight, but everything else slipped and bulged. The wing nuts themselves were also very difficult to tighten and loosen. In short: great idea, terrible execution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Totally ineffective This frame is designed to hold fabric and provide very tight tension with just the press of wood against the fabric, but there is not nearly enough pressure to accomplish that. The only way you make it work is if you wrap the fabric around each clamping stick several times before securing them in the braces, which is difficult to do and requires you to disassemble everything every time. Plus, the wood is not finished, rough, and not true to size. One of the sticks was too wide to fit in the brace hold. I had to sand it down before it came even close. I was really hoping to get away from the round embroidery frames, but looks like I'll back to the tried and true =/

Rated 0 out of 5 by from Another lousy product from a lousy company Waste of money, total crap. I bought this scroll along with the lap stand in order to practice embroidery with a tambour hook. The wood was of inferior quality and unfinished which caused splinters to snag the woven fabric and almost destroying it. When I did managed to get it set up the hold would loosen much to the same effect of the embroidery hoops, as well as leave splinters all over, and through, the fabric.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money It's a piece of junk. Not finished properly. A cheap piece of junk.

Rated 0 out of 5 by from Will be returning ASAP I ran into the same issue as others using this frame. Once I finally got my project into the hoop, I was unable to to get the fabric taut enough to work with. The dowels kept slipping in the side pieces.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge waste of money!! This is will be taken back a.s.a.p. No matter what I did it would not hold the fabric tight enough.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed! I bought this and another size. I have purchased these in the past but not from JoAnn's. The quality of these is terrible. Unfinished, rough, splinters and, when put together, it is warped, not straight. I threw this one away.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very, Very Poor Frame I bought this frame many years ago when I didn't know better and it's been a pain ever since. Luckily I don't stitch much. The frame is warped like other reviewers have stated and it fails to hold the cloth from slipping out of the dowels. I keep having to adjust the fabric. It is a HUGE pain. Also, it is unfinished and looks quite cheap. I can not wait to be done with my cross stitching so that I can get rid of it. :(
