- Caron® One Pound™, 1 ball each: Off White (A), Taupe (B)
- Sizes U.S. I/9 [5.5 mm] and U.S. J/10 [6 mm] crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge.
- 20" square pillow form
MEASUREMENT:
Approx 20" square.
GAUGE:
11 sc and 12 rows = 4" with larger hook.
DIRECTIONS:
Front and Back [make 2 pieces alike]Note: Ch 2 at beg of row does not count as hdc. To change colors, work to last loops on hook. Drop previous color from hook, draw new color through rem loops and proceed. Carry colors when not in use loosely up side of work. With A and larger hook, ch 55.
Row 1: [RS]. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 54 sc.
Row 2: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in first sc. 1 dc in each sc across to last sc. 1 hdc in last dc. Join B. Turn.
Row 3: With B, ch 2. 1 hdc in first hdc. *1 dcfp around each of next 2 sts. 1 dcbp around each of next 2 sts. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn.
Row 4: With B, ch 2. 1 hdc in first hdc. *1 dcfp around each of next 2 sts. 1 dcbp around each of next 2 sts. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Join A. Turn.
Row 5: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in first hdc. *1 dcbp around each of next 2 sts. 1 dcfp around each of next 2 sts. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn.
Row 6: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in first hdc. *1 dcbp around each of next 2 sts. 1 dcfp around each of next 2 sts. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Join B. Turn. Rep 3rd to 6th rows for pat 9 times more. [42 rows in total]. Fasten off A. Do not fasten off B.
Change to smaller hook and cont as follows for edging.
Edging:
Rnd 1: [RS]. With B, ch 1. Work 3 sc in first hdc, 1 sc in each of next 52 sts, 3 sc in last st, 50 sc evenly down side of Pillow, 3 sc in corner, 1 sc in each of next 52 sts across foundation row, 3 sc in corner and 50 sc evenly up side of Pillow. Join with sl st to first sc. Turn.
Rnd 2: [WS]. Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in each corner sc. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
FINISHING:
With WS of pieces facing each other, sew Front and Back tog leaving one side open to insert pillow form. Insert pillow form. Sew side closed.
