8 sts and 10 rows = 4" in stocking st with larger needles.

BACK
**With larger needles cast on 45 (49-51-57-61-69) sts.
1st row: (RS). *K1. P1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
2nd row: *P1. K1. Rep from * to last st. P1.
Rep last 2 rows (K1. P1) ribbing for 4½" [11.5 cm], ending on a WS row and dec 1 st at center of last row. 44 (48-50-56-60-68) sts.

Proceed in stocking st for 8 rows.
Shape sides: 1st row: (RS). K1. K2tog. Knit to last 3 sts. ssk. K1.
Work 13 rows even.
Rep last 14 rows once more. 40 (44-46-52-56-64) sts.

Cont even until work from beg measures 18½", ending on a purl row.

Shape armholes: Cast off 3 (4-4-5-6-7) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 34 (36-38-42-44-50) sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. K2tog. Knit to last 3 sts. ssk. K1.
2nd row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows 2 (2-3/4-4-6) times more. 28 (30-30-32-34-36) sts.**

Cont even until armhole measures 8½ (9-9-9½-10-10)" [21.5 (23-23-24.5-25.5-25.5) cm], ending on a purl row.

Shape shoulders: Cast off 3 (3-3/4-4-4) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 4 (4-4-4-5-5) sts at beg of following 2 rows. Leave rem 14 (16-16-16-16-18) sts on a st holder.

FRONT
Work from ** to ** as given for Back.

Cont even until armhole measures 5½ (6-6-6½-7-7)", ending on a purl row.

Shape neck: Next row: (RS). K9 (9-9-10-11-11). K2tog (neck edge). Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Purl 1 row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next row and following RS rows twice more. 7 (7-7-8-9-9) sts.

Cont even until armhole measures same length as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, ending on a purl row.

Shape shoulder: Cast off 3 (3-3/4-4-4) sts at beg of next row. Purl 1 row. Cast off rem 4 (4-4-4-5-5) sts.

With RS facing, slip next 6 (8-8-8-8-10) sts onto a st holder.
Next row: Rejoin yarn to rem sts. ssk. Knit to end of row.
Purl 1 row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next row and following RS rows twice more. 7 (7-7-8-9-9) sts.

Cont even until armhole measures same length as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, ending on a knit row.

Shape shoulder: Cast off 3 (3-3/4-4-4) sts at beg of next row. Knit 1 row. Cast off rem 4 (4-4-4-5-5) sts.

SLEEVES
With smaller needles, cast on 19 (19-21/21/23-23) sts.
Work 4 rows in (K1. P1) ribbing as given for Back, inc 1 st in center of last row. 20 (20-22-22-24-24) sts.

Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st for 4 rows.
Inc 1 st each end of next and following 6th rows until there are 30 (30-32-32-34-34) sts.
Cont even until Sleeve from beg measures 18½ (18½-18-18-17½-17½)", ending on a purl row.

Shape top: Cast off 3 (4-4-5-6-7) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 24 (22-24-22-22-20) sts.

2nd row: P1. P2togtbl. Purl to last 3 sts. P2tog. P1.
Rep last 2 rows 2 (1-1/2-1-1) time(s) more.
Cast off rem 6 (4-6-6-8-4) sts.

FINISHING
Sew right shoulder seam.
Collar: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 11 sts down left front neck edge. K6 (8-8-8-8-10) from Front st holder. Pick up and knit 11 sts up right front neck edge. K14 (16-16-16-16-18) from Back st holder, dec 1 st at center. 41 (45-45-45-45-49) sts.
Beg on a 2nd row, work 4½" in (K1. P1) ribbing as given for Back.
Change to larger needles and cont in ribbing until Collar measures 9". Cast off loosely in ribbing.
Sew left shoulder and collar seam, reversing seam at half-way point for fold back.
Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
