Cowl is worked in one piece, then ends are slip stitched or sewn together.
Row 1: Half double crochet in 3rd chain from hook (2 skipped chains count as a half double crochet on this row and on all rows of this pattern) and in each chain across — you will have 45 half double crochet at the end of this row.
Row 2: Chain 2, turn, working in back loops only, half double crochet in each stitch across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 34" (86 cm) from beginning.
Do not fasten off.
Note: If you prefer, you can sew ends of piece together.
Fold piece in half, matching last row to first row. Working through both thicknesses, slip stitch in each stitch across to join.
Weave in ends.
