How to Make Fabric Covered Paper Mache Letters

Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 8" paper mache letters
  • Choice of fabric (approx. 1/2 yd. fabric covers four letters)
  • Mod Podge®
  • Sponge brush or paintbrush
  • Fabric scissors

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Lay the letter on the wrong side of the fabric and trace letter outline.
  2. Cut fabric 2" larger than drawn outline.
  3. Cut 2" strips of fabric. Cover inside edges of letter with fabric strip using Mod Podge®. Edges should be even at front edge and folded over back edge.
  4. Brush Mod Podge® onto the front of the letter.
  5. Lay letter onto wrong side of fabric; press smooth.
  6. Press sides smooth.
  7. Press corners as if wrapping a package.
  8. Fold edges to back; glue as needed using Mod Podge®.
  9. Trim excess fabric and fold and glue as needed.
