TABLE RUNNER SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/2 yd background fabric
  • 1/4 yd of 3 fabric for pumpkin
  • Remnant for pumpkin stem
  • 1/4 yd fabric: bats, pumpkin face
  • 2/3 yd fabric: backing, inner borders
  • 1/4 yd binding
  • 1/2 yd Warm & Natural® batting
  • HeatnBond® fusible interfacing
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or rotary cutter & mat
  • Contrasting thread for outlining bat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron, pressing surface


DIRECTIONS: WOF = Width of fabric, RS = Right side(s) WS = Wrong side(s)

1. Background fabric cut: two 9" squares, 1 1/2" strip x WOF, four 2 1/2" squares.

2. Pumpkin fabrics cut: 1 1/2" strips.

3. Remnant cut: 1 1/2"x2" for stem.

4. Trace bat and pumpkin face onto HeatnBond® and iron to back of bat fabric.

5. Iron bats to the 9" squares. Set aside.

6. Pumpkin strips cut: two 1 1/2" squares & sew together. Press seam to one side. Turn to the left a quarter turn. Sew another strip to this section, press seam to one side & trim even to edges. Continue adding a total of 12 strips to center.

7. Draw a diagonal line on each of the four 2 1/2" squares. Place 1 in each corner of completed pumpkin square. Sew on diagonal line. Press towards corner.

8. Continue to add strips to three sides of pumpkin using the background fabric.

9. Cut two 1 1/2"x4" from background. Cut 2"x1 1/2" from stem. Sew 1 1/2"x4" strips to each side of stem. Sew unit to remaining side of pumpkin. Iron eyes, nose & mouth to pumpkin.

10. Cut four 9"x2 1/2" strips of inner border fabric. Sew strip to each side of bat squares. Press seam towards borders. Sew pumpkin square to center of bat squares.

11. Sew on top & bottom borders. Press seam toward border.

12. Cut backing and Warm & Natural® batting to the size of the top. Place backing face down with Warm &

Natural® batting on top and finished bat and pumpkin face up. Baste edges.

13. Zigzag around bat, sew veins & zigzag around pumpkin face pieces.

14. Cut & sew three 2 1/2" strips for binding together. Sew binding on runner.

HALLOWEEN PILLOWS SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/2 yd background fabric
  • 1/4 yd fabric, pumpkin
  • Remnant for stem
  • 1/4 yd fabric: bats, pumpkin face
  • 1 1/2 yd fabric: borders, back
  • 1 yd Warm & Natural® batting
  • 1/2 yd binding
  • Cording
  • 1 pkg HeatnBond® fusible interfacing
  • Two 14" square pillow forms
DIRECTIONS: Make 2.

1. Prepare center of pillows. Cut 1 1/2" strips of pumpkin fabric. Cut 1 1/2"x2" strip of remnant for stem. Trace bat & pumpkin face onto HeatnBond® & iron to back of bat fabric. Iron bats to 9" squares. Set aside.

2. From the pumpkin strips, cut & sew two 1 1/2" squares together. Press seam to one side. Turn to the left a quarter turn. Sew another strip to this section, press seam to one side & trim even to edges. Continue adding a total of 12 strips to center. Draw diagonal line on each 2 1/2" squares. Place 1 in each corner of completed pumpkin square. Sew on diagonal line. Press towards corner. Continue to add strips of background fabric to 3 sides of pumpkin. Cut two 1 1/2"x4" from background. Cut 2"x1 1/2" from stem. Sew 1 1/2"x4" strips to each side of stem. Sew to remaining side of pumpkin. Iron eyes, nose & mouth to pumpkin. Cut four 9"x2 1/2" strips of inner border fabric. Sew strip to each side of bat square. Press seam towards borders.

3. Cut 3 1/2" strips for borders. Attach borders to top and bottom of bat & pumpkin squares. Attach remaining borders to sides.

4. Cut Warm & Natural® batting and finish top of pillows: cut backing & Warm & Natural® batting to size of top. Place backing face down with Warm & Natural® batting on top & finished bat and pumpkin face up. Baste edges. Zigzag around bat, sew veins & zigzag around pumpkin face pieces.

5. Cut binding into 2 1/2" strips. Sew strips together and make piping. Add piping to front squares. Cut back of pillow and sew, with RS together, to front. Leave opening on side for turning & inserting pillow.

6. Turn. Insert pillow form & stitch opening closed.
