Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 yd. Simplicity®/MD 1" knit stretch band trim (Note: 1 yard will make 3 hair ties of one color. Colors shown: eggshell, black & grey)
  • 1/4 yd. Simplicity®/MD 3/8" beaded squares with gems trim and Simplicity®/MD 1 1/4" sequin circle trim (for eggshell hair tie)
  • 1/4 yd. Simplicity®/MD 4MM sequin starglow trim (for black hair tie)
  • 1/4 yd. Simplicity®/MD 2" chiffon rose trim and Simplicity®/MD silver crystal rhinestone trim (for silver hair tie)
  • needle & matching thread
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Ruler

DIRECTIONS:

Eggshell Hair Tie:
1. Cut an 11-1/2" length of stretch band trim and tie the ends in a knot, pulling tightly to make sure knot is secure.
2. Cut three circle motifs from sequin circle trim and overlap as shown in the image. Stitch in place.
3. Cut a piece of beaded square trim three motifs in length and use hot glue to secure vertically in center of circle embellishment.
4. Stitch the motif to the center of the hair tie to secure.

Black Hair Tie:
1. Cut an 11-1/2" length of stretch band trim and tie the ends in a knot, pulling tightly to make sure knot is secure.
2. Cut two 2" lengths of sequin starglow trim and stitch together by aligning long edges (but not overlapping).
3. Wrap sequin starglow trim around center of hair tie and stitch ends together.

Silver Hair Tie:
1. Cut an 11-1/2" length of stretch band trim and tie the ends in a knot, pulling tightly to make sure knot is secure.
2. Cut a piece of chiffon rose trim that is 3 “roses” long. Coil trim into a “bloom” and use the needle and thread to secure.
3. Cut a length of rhinestone trim 3 crystals in length and adhere to the center of the bloom with hot glue.
4. Stitch the bloom to the center of the hair tie to secure.
