Product Reviews:
Originally purchased a year ago and did not like blade; however, Gingher listened to us and updated blade! Much better; however, need to realize this ripper is held and used differently than traditional rippers. This ripper cuts through several stitches; no need to place ripper "into" stitches; hold fabric apart and place ripper "down" toward stitches and will realize the benefits of this ripper!! LOVE IT NOW that I know how to use! However, would like to see Gingher give me the option of another blade that is as sharp as a razor blade as I would use this option.
back to productI was excited to purchase this, but found that it cuts nicely through fabric if not extremely careful. I'm too nervous to use it, and it's a total waste of money. I'm staying with the inexpensive reliable seam rippers.
back to productI have small hands but I've got a bad case of butterfingers so using the smaller cheaper seam rippers just does not work for me. This seam ripper is a great size that fits my hand great and lets me leverage the force I need to rip the threads. As others have stated I would have loved my blade to be sharper but even so its nice to have something I don't lose my grip on and I'm not afraid is going to snap in half every time I use it. I'm hoping the blade issue is fixed with future refill pack issues.
back to productI'm like the other users. I don't use my Gingher seam ripper. Blade needs to be sharper. I'm back to my other seam rippers. I like the feel of the tool but I have to force the blade to cut the thread. It should be sharp and just flow through the thread. Gingher needs to take a lesson from their other cutting tools as far as sharpness is concerned!
back to productI did buy this with a 50% off cupon so it was a great buy. I was a little intiminated to start with as I was so affraid I would cut the fabric and not the threads...boy did that change quickly. If you hold it at an angle it works beautifully, also my blade was very sharp, I think it was the angle you hold it that makes it cut better, at least that is what I found to be best. I would recomend this highly and have already given one as gift. I have had mine about 9 months.
back to productDoesn't cut without force, Gingher will replace blades but they are no better. Blade simply is not sharp enough to cut thread unless you apply force which may cut your fabric. Nice idea, bad blades.
back to productMy gingher sissors (3 different types), and rotary cutter are my staples to use but boy oh boy was I disappointed with the seam ripper. I was soooo looking forward to using a "gingher" seam ripper-WOW!!!, but this tool is practically useless for me-kind of like using a butter knife and this is even on the lightweight fabrics that are easy to access at the seams. I didnt return it but I dont use it. Well, I took one for the team on this one, and using my "other" seam rippers again :( ...Hope this helps, I am just being honest...wish so badly that I had better to say.. Gingher (if you can hear me)--PLEASE re-work the sharpness and angle of the blade, and I will give it another try
back to productbeautiful tool and worked fine, until I used it to rip out the legs on a pair of jeans, now I have to use pressure to cut thru a thread stitch. am really dissappointed. blade can't take much use. love my gingher scissors.
