Confetti Dot Fabric

By adding the oil does it not get on the fabric and stain it?

sewing tips

bought this (on sale) to make running skirts like the "Team Sparkle" skirts. The fabric does gum up a needle. I found several hints on a belly-dance costume forum that worked. I used a regular needle (size 11) NOT a ball-point needle. Wipe the needle down with something (Jo-Ann does make a product). The belly -dance folks mentioned frizz-ease hair serum -- I thought my daughters would have some, but I found biosilk Silk Therapy. I squeezed some on a paper towel and wiped the needle down between seams. I also tore several strips of wax paper and put the was paper between the presser foot and the fabric. Once I did this, I had no trouble sewing. Before I did this, I could not get the top thread to catch the bobbin thread

confetti dot fabric

The dots do not come off when ironed if you make sure to iron it on the wrong side of the fabric, or use a press cloth.

confetti dot

I sewed turquoise confetti dot and had no problems, but then sewed the same fabric in green. It gummed up the needle terribly, but Sewer's Aid fixed the problem. There is no need to put it on the thread. Just moisten the needle with it and it solves the problem. It is wonderful for dance costumes as it gives lots of sparkle on stage.

Confettie Dot Frabric-many colors

I machined washed and dried the material after sewing and wearing my shirt. I would advise to buy extra material and was and dry before sewing. It was supppose to be "dry cleaned" oops it worked for me. Lots of compliments

Great fabric/reasonable

Our Sweet Adeline chorus used this fabric to make black performance ponchos. Some people had a problem sewing on it. I did not and didn't have to do anything special to sew on it. I did press it a bit by using a pressing cloth with a not-too-hot iron. Some of the dots came off but, hey, it's a costume! I am back now to buy this in red for our next singing event.

Simple trick

great fabric, a simple trick I learned was to cut a thin piece of wax paper and lay along the seam to be sewn. It lubricates your needle and keeps the sequin glue from sticking to it.

was a hater, now a believer!

I started sewing with this last night and ran into all sorts of trouble. Read the reviews here and tried again today. Using baby oil on the needle saved the day. Made it easy to use. Love the shiny fabric and love that it doesn't fray. If you ware going to use this, research for tricks and tips and save yourself the headache!
