Additional Information

Description
New & improved! This June Tailor Quilter's Basting Gun (with 500 9mm Fasteners) shoots plastic 9mm tacks through fabric layers for quick basting. Place one hand under quilt, insert extra fine needle through all layers then, with needle between two fingers, press trigger to insert tacks. Start around edge then every 2" from the top to bottom with rows about 4" apart. Work from sides to center. Remove tacks after quilting. The ultra-fine needle leaves a minimal hole in your fabric.

June Tailor Quilter's Basting Gun with 500 Fasteners is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't cross over This is a great product, but don't ever for one second think you're going to use Dritz tacks in a June Tailor basting gun. They won't penetrate, they break off - very frustrating and a complete waste of money. I went through a whole package of the red Dritz tacks getting maybe one in 5 to work. I even tried soaking them overnight the "freshen" them so they wouldn't break. Bottom line: no cross-breeding. Red with Dritz, white with June Tailor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!! After thread basting several queen size quilts taped to the floor for hours on my knees and backside and each one bringing me to tears by the end, wondering why I do this to myself (we all know why!), this basting gun is a life saver! I purchased my first gun at Joann's while on vacation last year in the states (I live in Vanuatu)and a few packets of tacks just to try it-and it cut my basting time by about 1/3! The plastic grid that you buy separate could be a bit bigger so it doesn't have to be moved so often under the quilt, but other than that I wouldn't be without this tool!!! You will need several more packs of tacks than the small amount that comes with the gun if you are going to make a bed-size quilt-but they are inexpensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I use this all the time to sandwich my quilts. I can tack a full quilt in less than an hour. I also love them because when I free motion quilt, it will not hurt my needle or machine when I run over them. I have been using my basting gun for about 6 years now and love it... It is the only way to go...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unusual Use of Basting Gun We ordered this to attach the gauntlets to our marching band's uniforms. It works pretty well. You just have to be sure not to try to force it through too many thicknesses of fabric or the needle will bend and become unusable. It would be nice if the needles were a bit more sturdy. Also, had a bit of difficulty getting old needle out, new one in. Picture isn't wonderful for explaining how to do this. Trial and error are great teachers! Needles are a bit pricey. We have 3 of them now.

Rated 0 out of 5 by from June tailor basting gun Bought it on the recommendation of my sister. What a disappointment. The needle poped out and the tacks wouldn't work. I bought another brand and still had about as bad results as the first one. I did manage to tack a spot about 1 ft X 2ft area. Do not recommend them. I also went and bought the tacking safety pens for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basting gun I absolutely love this product. I have had the same one, June Tailor and Dritz since the early 90's. I just buy refills...I use one for long refills and one for short so I always have one ready. I bought them originally for making doll clothes and hats etc and quilts. Now I use them constantly when I am too lazy to sew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Product This is a terrific product when it works. There is quite a bit of waste of the tags, but worth it to avoid hand and machine basting. I teach sewing and quilting and recommend this product. I also use it in my day to day business as a professional seamstress

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I bought one, after many times trying to bast a quilt with a needle and thread, wow it takes a lot of time out of the basting stage of the quilt works well, never had to replace a needle yet, small holes overall i would recommend it
