Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Caron® Simply Soft® Yarn: 1 skein Blueberry (A): small amount of Vanilla (B) and Black (C)
  • Caron® Simply Soft® Brites Yarn: small amount of Limelight (D)
  • Crochet hook, size C-2
  • Yarn needle
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Stitch marker

GAUGE: Exact gauge is not critical for this project; stitching should be tight.

STITCHES USED:

  • Chain (ch)
  • Half double crochet (hdc)
  • Single crochet (sc)
  • Slip stitch (slip st)

DIRECTIONS:
SPECIAL TERMS:
sc2tog: Single crochet 2 together—insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (two loops on hook), insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all three loops on hook.

NOTES:
All yarn used is split into 2 strands of 2 plies each. Use 2 plies of yarn throughout. Do not join rounds. Place a marker in the last stitch of round and move up as rounds progress.

AMIGURUMI:
Head and Body:
Cut 6 yds of A and split. With A, leaving a long tail, ch 4, join with a slip st to form a ring.
Round 1: 6 sc in ring and over tail, do not join, pull tail to close center ring—6 sc. Place marker in last stitch.
Round 2: 2 sc in each st around—12 sc.
Round 3: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around—18 sc.
Rounds 4-7: Sc in each st around.
Round 8: *Sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts; repeat from * 2 times, sc in next 3 sts—15 sc.
Round 9: *Sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts; repeat from * once, sc in next 3 sts—13 sc. Stuff the amigurumi and continue to stuff as work progresses.
Rounds 10-11: Sc in each st around.
Round 12: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * 2 times, sc in next st—16 sc.
Round 13: *Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * 3 times—20 sc.
Rounds 14-19: Sc in each st around.
Round 20: *Sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts; repeat from * around—16 sc.
Round 21: *Sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts; repeat from * around—12 sc.
Round 22: *Sc in next st, sc2tog over next 2 sts; repeat from * around—8 sc. Fasten off, leaving a long sewing length. With yarn needle and sewing length, weave through final rnd of sts, pull tight and secure.

Front Legs (make 2):
With A, ch 2.
Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join—6 sc. Place marker in last stitch.
Rounds 2-11: Sc in each st around. Stuff legs very lightly. Fasten off leaving a long sewing length. With yarn needle and sewing length, sew front legs to the front sides at the neck as pictured.

Hind Legs (make 2):
With A, ch 2.
Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join—6 sc. Place marker in last stitch.
Round 2: 2 sc in each st around—12 sc.
Round 3: *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around—16 sc.
Rounds 4-5: Sc in each st around.
Round 6: *Sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts; repeat from * around—12 sc. Stuff lightly and continue to stuff as work progresses.
Round 7: Sc in next 3 sts, [sc2tog over next 2 sts] 3 times, sc in next 3 sts—9 sc.
Round 8: *Sc in next st, sc2tog over next 2 sts; repeat from * once, sc in next 3 sts—7 sc.
Rounds 9-11: Sc in each st around. Stuff lightly. Fasten off, leaving a long sewing length. With yarn needle and sewing length, sew hind legs to the sides of body at rear as pictured.

Muzzle:
With A, ch 6.
Round 1: 3 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (beginning ch 2 does not count as a st), sc in next 2 ch, 5 hdc in last ch, working across opposite side of foundation ch, sc in next 2 ch, 2 hdc in last ch, join with a sl st in first hdc—10 hdc; 4 sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around—14 sc. Fasten off, leaving a long sewing length. Sew to center front of head, slightly toward bottom. With yarn needle and D, satin st 2 eyes on face; with C, straight st a pupil in center of each eye and satin st a nose on center of face as pictured.

Ears (make 2):
With A, ch 5.
Round 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook (beginning ch 1 does not count as a st), hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, 3 sc in last ch, working across opposite side of foundation ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch—4 hdc; 4 sc. Fasten off, leaving a long sewing length. With yarn needle and sewing length, sew one to each side of head toward the back as pictured.

Tail:
With A, ch 19.
Row 1: Working in back bar of ch sts, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across—18 sc. Fasten off leaving a long sewing length. With yarn needle and sewing length, sew tail to center back at the bottom, between hind legs.

Bottom Lip:
With A, ch 2.
Row 1: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. With yarn needle and sewing length, sew bottom lip to the center front of head, below the muzzle.

FINISHING:
With yarn needle and B, straight st a mouth above bottom lip as pictured. Weave in ends.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Approximately 3¼" tall
