DIRECTIONS:

Cutting:

Cut two 13"- diameter circles from gold fabric.

Cut one 7" x 44" strip, one 7" x 15" strip & one 3" x 38- 1`2" strip.

Sewing: (Note: All seam allowances are 1`2".)

Making piping:

Stitch bias strips together.

Cover cording with bias; stitch close to cording using zipper foot.

Cut into 2 equal pieces measuring approx 40" each.

Making pillow top:

With right sides together, stitch both 7"- wide strips together along 7" edges to form a 7"- deep x 57"- circumference

cylinder.

Machine- baste along 1 edge & hand- baste along the other. (The hand- basted edge will be in the center; the

machine- basted edge will be on the circle’s outer edge.)

Place loosely gathered strip on top of 1 circle.

Gather machine basting to fit outer edge of circle; baste in place around outer edge.

Draw up hand basting as tightly as possible to close circle completely. If there is a large opening remaining, redo

basting using a longer stitch.

Stitch gathered strip to circle around outer edge.

Adding button:

Cover button following manufacturer’s instructions.

Stitch button to center of pillow, covering raw edges.

For tufted look, button can be stitched to finished pillow by stitching through pillow from back to front with a long

needle. Pull thread to indent button; secure at back.

Finishing:

Using zipper foot, stitch piping to both long edges of 3" strip.

Stitch 3" ends of strip together to form a circle.

Clip seam allowance on piped edge at 1`2" intervals.

With right sides facing, pin strip to completed pillow top around edge of circle. Repeat on opposite edge, using

remaining circle piece. Stitch in place, continuing to use zipper foot.

Open approx 3" of stitching on back (flat) side of pillow.

Turn right side out & stuff to desired fullness.

Slipstitch opening closed.
