ENTRELAC PURSE

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sensations™ yarn, 1 skein each: dark blue, white
  • Knitting needles, US size 7
  • Basic entrelac directions
  • Yarn needle
  • 1/2 yd fabric for lining
  • Paper for lining pattern
  • Pencil

DIRECTIONS:
NOTE: This purse is made using the entrelac method.
Two strands of yarn are held together.

1. Wind each skein into two separate balls.
2. Holding two strands of dark blue yarn, and following entrelac directions of choice, cast on 30 stitches. Each section will be worked in 10 stitches each.
3. Complete the first row of bottom triangles in dark blue. On the last stitch, tie on two strands of white yarn.
4. Continue in pattern as shown in photo, ending with a row of dark blue triangles.
5. Repeat for back side.
6. Lay each finished piece on a piece of paper and trace a pattern for lining.
7. Cut out lining for front and back.
8. With right sides together, using a yarn needle, sew sides and bottom of purse front and back together, rounding corners as desired. Refer to photo for shape.
9. Sew lining sides and bottom together, matching rounded corners of purse.
10. For handle, holding two strands of dark blue yarn, cast on 6 stitches. Knit a ribbed handle – K1, P1 – until handle is 20" or desired length.
11. Stitch handle to front and back of purse at side seams.
12. Press top edge of lining under 1/2" and slip into purse.
13. Stitch lining to purse.

SCARF

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sensations™ yarn, 1 skein each: light blue, white
  • Knitting needles, US size 8
  • Yarn needle

DIRECTIONS:

1. Loosely cast on 30 stitches.
2. Row 1 and all odd rows – K1, YO, K2tog to last stitch, K1.
3. Row 2 and all even rows – purl to end.
4. Continue in pattern until scarf measures 36" or desired length.
5. Cast off on a purl row.
6. Sew opposite sides of scarf together, giving scarf a one-half twist.

HEADBAND WITH FLOWER

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sensations™ yarn, 1 skein each: dark blue, medium blue, light blue, white
  • Knitting needles, US size 10
  • Yarn needle

DIRECTIONS:
The headband is worked in rib pattern with an increase or decrease on the center stitch of the right side rows. Be sure to follow the rib pattern on either side of the increase or decrease.
Cast on 7.
Row 1 (RS) – K1, P1 to end.
Row 2 (WS) – P1, K1 to end.
Row 3 (RS) – K1, P1 to end.
Row 4 (WS) – P1, K1 to end.
Row 5 – K1, P1, K1, PFB, K1, P1, K1.
Row 6 – Work in the rib pattern, knitting 2 in the center.
Row 7 – Work in the rib pattern until center stitch, M1F; continue in rib to end of row.
Row 8 – Work in the rib pattern.
Row 9 – Work in the rib pattern until center stitch, KFB; continue in rib to end of row.
Row 10 – Work in the rib pattern, purling 2 in the center.
Row 11 – Work in the rib pattern until center stitch, M1B; continue in rib to end of row.
Row 12 – Work in the rib pattern.
Repeat Rows 5-12 until 23 stitches are on the needle.
Work in rib pattern until there is 11" from cast on edge.

Begin decrease – Check that middle stitch is a purl stitch.
Row 1 – Work in the rib pattern until 2 stitches before the center stitch; P2tog, KFB – this is the center stitch, P2tog; continue in rib pattern.
Row 2 – Work in the rib pattern until center; P2, continue in rib to end of row.
Row 3 – Work in the rib pattern until two center stitches; K2tog, continue in rib to end of row.
Row 4 – Work in the rib pattern.
Row 5 – Work in the rib pattern until 2 stitches before the center stitch; K2tog, PFB – this is the center stitch – K2tog; continue in rib pattern.
Row 6 – Work in the rib pattern with 2 knit stitches next to each other in the center; continue in rib to end of row.
Row 7 – Work in the rib pattern until the two center stitches; P2tog, continue in rib to end of row.
Row 8 – Work in the rib pattern.
Repeat Rows 1-8 until 7 stitches remain on the needle. BO and sew ends of headband together.

Flower:
NOTE: The flower is worked in three sections that are stacked and then sewn onto the headband. The smallest section on the top is worked with white yarn, middle is medium blue, bottom is dark blue. Dark blue yarn is used to sew flower to headband and to give a dark center.

Top section:
Cast on 56.
Row 1 – K1, (BO3, K1) to end.
Row 2 – Purl to end.
Row 3 – K1, BO2, (K2, BO2) to last 2 stitches K2tog.
Row 4 – Purl to end.
Row 5 – K1, K2tog to end.

Cut yarn 12" from last stitch for sewing. If using circular needles, push stitches to opposite end, if using straight needles, pass stitches onto other needle, thread yarn onto a sewing needle. From opposite side of last stitch, thread needle through stitches, taking off the needle as work progresses. Pull tightly into flower shape and sew sides together.

Middle section:
Cast on 68.
Row 1 – K1, BO3, (K2, BO3) to end K1.
Row 2 – Purl to end.
Row 3 – K1, BO2, (K2, BO2) to end K1.
Row 4 – Purl to end.
Row 5 – K1, K2tog to end, K1.
Row 6 – Purl to end.
Row 7 – K2tog to end.
Row 8 – Purl.

Cut yarn 12" from last stitch for sewing. Continue as above.

Bottom section:
Cast on 98.
Row 1 – K1, BO3, (K2, BO3) to end K2.
Row 2 – Purl to end.
Row 3 – K1, BO2, (K2, BO2) to end.
Row 4 – Purl to end.
Row 5 – Knit.
Row 6 – Purl.
Row 7 – Knit.
Row 8 – Purl.

Cut yarn 12" from last stitch for sewing. Continue as above.

Abbreviations: BO = bind off, K = knit, K2tog = knit 2 together, KFB = knit front and back, M1B = from the back, lift loop between stitches with the left needle, purl into the front of loop, M1F = from the front, lift loop between stitches with left needle, knit into the back of the loop, P = purl, PFB = purl front and back
