Not what I ordered, but works good!
I recently ordered this winder thinking I would receive a Lacis winder in the mail. I received a Royal Winder instead. Not sure what that's all about? But overall it works great. I wound pretty much my entire stash of yarn, which resulted in an entire 5 shelf bookcase being filled with stackable, color-coordinated little "cakes" of yarn. Had a lot of fun with this, but I'm not so sure its worth $70...that's kind of steep for something like this. Especially when its not the brand you ordered.
Yarn Ball Winder
I love my Yarn Ball Winder. I bought three, two for friends. My one friend has told me several times how much she love hers and I also am thankful to have mine. My only complaint is it won't wind a large skein. I have pulled the guide out in order to finish and found it very durable doing that.

This Royal yarn ball winder prevents the frustration of dealing with skein-flop and the wads of tangled yarn that are found in so most factory-wound skeins. It also winds the yarn into a nice firm flat-based ball which holds together and does not roll around on the floor like hand-wound balls (my kitties are so disappointed, haha!) No need for yarn bras or other yarn control! So fast compared to hand winding, too. Quality seems good to me; my local yarn shop uses this brand! I just got it last week and have wound a couple dozen balls perfectly the first time. Quiet and smooth-running. Simple mechanics; it clamps easily and firmly to a table top or counter with a surface-safe rubber clamp. Good investment; buy with coupon!
Why'd I wait so long?
I always rewind skeins of yarn by hand to avoid the mess of a collapsing skein. I debated with myself about buying a rewinder for some time (Do I really need another gadget sitting around the house?). After getting a mailer from JoAnn for 50% off any item online, I thought now's the time. I read the reviews of all 3 models and went with this one. When it arrived I rewound about 6 skeins-had lots of fun. Wish I bought it sooner.
Don't hesitate in buying
Love...Love...Love it! why did I wait so long? I got through over 10 large totes of yarn in 2 days of winding. I will never be without one again. Will handle smaller skeins of yarn, but not anything larger than a full skein of Simply Soft.

I had been wanting to try a yarn winder for some time and with reviews from this item i kept watch untill it went on sale. I am so glad I did, it's awesome. I had a bag of exra yarn balls that were wound up with center pull access minutes. A 5oz Red Heart Super Saver fits perfect. Please make a larger one!!!
So glad I ordered this
I felt like this was "luxury" purchase for me, didn't really need one but.......I am so glad I order this. Ready to go right out of the box, was winding beautiful cakes of yarn in minutes. I would recommend this to everyone who has any amount of yarn laying around needing to be wound!
