Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2/3 yd 45" Fabric A
  • 2/3 yd 45” Fabric B: straps & pocket
  • 3 yds HeatnBond® iron-on vinyl
  • 1" Velcro® brand hook-&-loop fastener
  • Sewing machine & basic sewing supplies
  • Iron, pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:
Use 1/4" seam allowance. RS = Right side(s).

CUTTING:
Fabric A: 13"x33" piece
10"x44" piece
Apply vinyl to Fabric A pieces, following package instructions.
Laminated Fabric A:
Two 16"x12½" pieces for front & back
9"x43½" piece for sides & bottom
Fabric B: 12"x44" piece
23"x9" piece
Apply vinyl to Fabric B pieces, following package instructions.
Laminated Fabric B:
Two 5"x44" strips for straps
8¼"x15" piece for pocket
Two 7¼"x3" strips for pocket flap

ASSEMBLY:
1. POCKET: Fold 8¼"x15" piece in half with RS together. Sew 8¼" edge & turn. Center & stitch hook side of fastener 1" from pocket’s top edge. Center pocket on front of bag 2¼" from each side, 3" from bottom. Baste sides.
2. STRAPS: Fold straps in half lengthwise; fold edges into middle. Edge stitch sides. Position inside edge of strap 3" in from each front-side edge. Topstitch to within 5" of the top on both front & back. Pleat bottom of pocket; topstitch.
3. POCKET FLAP: Center & stitch loop side of fastener to RS of a flap, 1/2" from bottom. Stitch RS together, rounding bottom edge & leaving an opening for turning. Trim seam, turn & topstitch to front 1/2" above the pocket. Reinforce corners & clip.
4. Stitch front to side & bottom panel; repeat with back.
5. Fold top down 1½". Fold under 1/2" on raw edge. Topstitch.
6. Topstitch straps up to top edge.
