    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new Morgan Hoop! I bought this online to complete a bead embroidery piece. It arrived in days and was securely packed. This was my first foray into beading and I didn't have all the proper equipment. I started my project with an old hand held embroidery hoop but soon discovered it made bead embroidering twice as difficult. I got lucky because this hoop just happened to be on sale! I also bought all my beads and embroidery supplies from Joann in-store. The fabric is from my own ancient stash and "framed" in an old wood hoop. Overall I'm very pleased with the results and will return to Joann for future projects.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful hoops! I bought this to use with punch needle. I bought one for myself and one to teach my mother how to punch. We both love it! I had been using a rug hooking frame for punch needle. However, this hoop allows me to turn my work much easier. I would highly recommend it. Plus, Joann's has the best price on the hoop as well.

Hoops are great, I bought the set to use for a larger punch needle set, where you need to have a drum tight hoop that is on a stand or can be put on something. I like the Clover hoop (I added a rubber band to keep the fabric even tighter)and the Clover stand best for punchneedle as it's not so high off the table as this set. These hoops are bigger than I found in the Clover, so I did buy these hoops, but didn't like the height when put together as a stand for punchneedle. I use the hoops, but lean them on something else that is a comfortable height. For other uses (embroidery) on a table or lap, some folks probably like the height.

Well of course you can use them for other needlework besides embroidery, and they're pretty sturdy so I suspect they'd be good for hand quilting, too (the label lists quilting). I've been using this lap stand hoop set in the 10-inch and 14-inch sizes, plus the smaller sized sets, and they all work really well. Previously I used the plastic Hoop-la hoops, which worked fine for small projects, but I found my hands, arms and neck getting cramped up for projects that were more involved. I also tried a couple of the cheaper rectangular wooden roller frames, but those were totally useless because no matter how I adjusted them, the fabric was loose. These Morgan lap hoops hold the fabric securely and are so much more ergonomically comfortable than the single hand-held hoops. I can put these on my lap or low table, wherever I'm sitting at the time, and position them as needed. It's great to have both hands free to embroider without the pain and fatigue I had before (still need to take breaks!). You can also use the hoops separately if desired. Sometimes it's a little awkward to reach my hand around the poles which connect the top and bottom hoops, and the screws can catch the floss, but that's very minor. Overall I highly recommend these lap stand hoops, totally worth it- I got a few during a sale at JoAnn!
