These one-of-a-kind Batiks are produced on the island of Java in Indonesia by skilled dye masters. Each yard of these sumptuous fabrics is unique. The fabric is hand-stamped and then hand-painted multiple times, with many different pairs of hands working on every yard. Most of the work is done outside, so the weather greatly influences the results. Due to this specialized hand-process, there is a consistency to color and pattern, while maintaining subtle color variations that are so important to this traditional technique
I bought some of the grn/yellow/magenta colored fabric earlier this year and love it. The colors just popped when I added magenta colored appliqued flowers on cream background center bordered with this fabric. Wish I could buy more but theres an X box that won't let me.
The colors are true to what is shown at site. There was a lot of green in the gold and green one. My only disappointment was that the brown did not have actual metallic gilded vines on it, but it still matched my project. The price was fantastic at 3.89 per yd. Sold out on line but got it at store with page from catalog.
Color is not quite as dark as in picture-I bought the autumn. The greens are nice but picture looks to have more burgundy. There is not too much of the burgundy and I would say it is more greens and brown tones. Still a pretty fabric-just wish it was as dark as pictured. Hard to tell when buying on line as we have no Joann's here.
This fabric is wonderful to work with - you can hardly tell one side from the other - this makes it great for using in fashion as well as quilting. Nice weight, washes GREAT - no bleeding. Simply Breathtaking Colors and detail - I am going to buy more for my stash...little high on pricing - but get it on sale or use your coupon and you have a DEAL!
