Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Patons® Classic Wool Yarn: 2 skeins Grey Mix (MC); 1 skein Dark Grey Mix (A); 1 skein Aran (B)
  • Set of 4 double-pointed knitting needles: Size 6 or size to obtain gauge
GAUGE: 22 sts and 28 rows = 4" in stocking stitch. Regular instruction lists begin with 'Directions' in bold, 'Notes' are italicized and each line is double spaced by 2
tags.

DIRECTIONS: Lady’s shoe size: 5/6 (7/8-9/10). Pattern is written for smallest size. Changes for larger sizes will be in ( ). Download PDF Chart. When working from chart, carry yarn not in use across WS of work; not more than 5 sts. If it must pass over more than 5 sts, weave it over & under color in use on next st or at center point of passed over sts. Do not twist colors.

With MC, cast on 56 sts. Divide sts into 18 sts on 1st & 2nd needles; 20 sts on 3rd needle. Join in rnd. Place marker on 1st stitch for beg of rnd. Rnd 1: *K2. P2. Rep from * around. Rep last rnd of (K2. P2) ribbing for 1". Rnd 2: Knit. Knit Chart I in rnds to end of Chart, reading rows from right to left, noting 28-st rep will be worked twice. Break A & B. Next rnd: With MC, knit. Next rnd: (K5. K2tog) 8 times. 48 sts. Knit 3 rnds.

Make Heel: Slip last 12 sts of last rnd & knit first 12 sts of next rnd onto needle for heel; center contrast marker. Slip rem 24 sts onto 2 needles for instep. WS of work facing, work back & forth across heel sts on 2 needles as follows: Row 1: Sl1P. Purl to end of row. Row 2: *Sl1P. K1. Rep from * to end of row. Rep last 2 rows until heel measures 2½", ending with a RS row.

Shape Heel: Row 1: Sl1P. P12. P2tog. P1. Turn. Row 2: Sl1P. K3. Sl1. K1. psso. K1. Turn. Row 3: Sl1P. P4. P2tog. P1. Turn. Row 4: Sl1P. K5. Sl1. K1. psso. K1. Turn. Row 5: Sl1P. P6. P2tog. P1. Turn. Row 6: Sl1P. K7. Sl1. K1. psso. K1. Turn. Row 7: Sl1P. P8. P2tog. P1. Turn. Row 8: Sl1P. K9. Sl1. K1. psso. K1. Turn. Row 9: Sl1P. P10. P2tog. P1. Turn. Row 10: Sl1P. K11. Sl1. K1. psso. K1. 14 sts.

Shape Instep: RS of work facing & 1st needle, pick up & knit 9 (9-11) sts along left side of heel. With 2nd needle K24 across instep sts. With 3rd needle, pick up & knit 9 (9-11) sts along other side of heel. Knit first 7 sts from heel onto end of 3rd needle. Slip rem 7 sts from heel onto beg of 1st needle. 56 (56-60) sts are now divided: 16 (16-18) sts on 1st & 3rd needles, 24 sts on 2nd needle.

Instep Decreases: Next rnd: 1st needle: Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1. 2nd needle: Knit. 3rd needle: K1. Sl1. K1. psso. Knit to end of needle. Next rnd: Knit. Rep last 2 rnds to 48 sts divided: 12 sts on 1st & 3rd needles, 24 sts on 2nd needle. Knit in rnds until foot from picked up sts measures 6" (6½"-7").

Shape Toe: Rnd 1: 1st needle: Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1. 2nd needle: K1. Sl1. K1. psso. Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1. 3rd needle: K1. Sl1. K1. psso. Knit to end of needle. Next rnd: Knit. Rep last 2 rnds to 20 (20-24) sts. Knit sts from 1st needle onto 3rd needle. Graft 2 sets of 10 (10-12) sts tog for toe.

Finished foot length: 9" (9-1/2"-10-1/2")
