The "old" Wool-Ease washed and dryed wonderfully. You better plan on hand washing and drying flat. Used for socks so hidden, but in my opinion, anything visible would look terrible if machine washed.
I have been using this yarn for many years. I have made many hats and sweaters with it. I have never had prproblems with pilling but then again I hand wash my projects in a wash made for wool and dry flat. Looks great after washing. I will definitly keep using this yarn.
What is shown is not quite the color you get. I ordered a blue tint & received a greenish blue. Yes, it could be a monitor problem, but I do not have this problem with other yarn sites.
I have knit several children's sweaters and hats with this yarn and love it. The blue mist and the green have other color fibers which makes for lovely color effects. The fiber combo makes it even machine washable, a desirable property for moms. It's a #4 weight so #7 needles work well, and projects knit up fast.
Where's the wool? Not long ago this product was all wool and they carried worsted as well as sport. I made my purchase less than 2 yrs ago & it was 60/40 wool to acrylic. I will have to mark this brand off my list as other brands at same price are mostly wool with a small amt of acrylic to stabilize its shape.
Absolutely love this yarn! Soft and natural feel to it. Never noticed pilling with it. It sheds a little but not a problem at all.
I thought that a small percentage of wool would be OK for a men's hat and scarf project. The recipient claims it is scratchy though, so I won't use it any more for items touching the skin directly.
I made a pair of mittens 2 years ago with Wool-ease and they have been worn and washed numerous times without pilling or hardly any wear. I would recommend this yarn for anything that will be worn often and needs to be thrown in the washer or dryer.
