SPECIAL STITCH

3 dc-cl: [Yo, insert hook and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook] 3 times in same indicated sp, yo, draw through remaining loops on hook.

Body:
With A, ch 39.
1st Row: Sc in 4th ch from hook (counts as dc and sc), *dc in next ch, sc in next ch; rep from * to last ch, dc in last ch. Turn. (36 sts)
2nd Row: Ch 1(counts as sc), *dc in next sc, sc in next dc; rep from * to last st, dc in last st. Turn.
Pattern st created.
Repeat 2nd Row until piece measures 7"/18 cm, ending with a WS row.

Left strap:
1st Row
: Ch 1 (counts as sc), [dc in next sc, sc in next dc] 5 times, dc in next st. Turn. (12 sts). Leave remaining sts unworked.
2nd Row: Do not chain. Sc2tog, work in est stitch pattern to end. Turn. (11 sts)
3rd Row: Ch 1, work in est stitch pattern to last 2 sts, sc2tog. Turn. (10 sts)
4th Row: Rep 2nd Row. (9 sts)
5th Row: Rep 3rd Row. (8 sts)
6th - 16th Rows: Ch 1, work in est stitch pattern to end. Turn.
Fasten off.

Right strap:
With RS facing, sk center 12 sts.

1st Row: Join yarn with sl st to next st, ch 1, sc in same sp as last sl st, work in est stitch pattern to end. Turn. (12 sts)’ how you’ve written this will be working 2 WS rows on top of each other which will look ‘off’’
You’re so right! When I originally wrote the pattern I was going to have an additional row of straight sc as an edging. When I changed my mind to make a contrasting edging around the entire bib, I forgot to change it. Good catch!

2nd-16th Rows: Work same as for Left strap.

Right collar:
Fold bib in half lengthwise and place a marker at center point of unworked neck sts. With WS facing, count 9 sts to the right of marker (will go up along curve of strap) and join B with sl st to 9th st.
1st Row: Ch 2, 8 hdc. Turn. (9 sts)
2nd Row: Ch 2, 3 dc, [dc, ch 2, dc] in next hdc, 3 dc, hdc in last st. Turn.
3rd Row: Ch 2, 2 dc, ch 1, sk 2 dc, [3 dc-cl, ch 2, 3 dc-cl] in ch-2 sp, sk 2, 2 dc, hdc. Turn.
4th Row: Ch 1, 4 sc, [sc, ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook, sc] in ch-2 sp, 5 sc. Fasten off.

Left collar:
With WS facing, join B with sl st in next unworked st beside center front neck marker.
Repeat as for Right collar.

Pull outer corners of collar at a diagonal and tack down. Tack inner corners in place.

Edging:
With RS facing, join B with sl st at neck edge next to where Right collar ends.
1st Row: Ch 1, *sc evenly along to corner, 2 dc in corner st; rep from * 4 times more, sc, [sl st, ch 7, sl st] in next st, 2 sc, [sl st, ch 7, sl st] in next st (button loops made), sc, 2 sc in corner, sc to meet Left collar.
Fasten off.

Finishing
Weave in ends.
Sew buttons on to correspond with button loops.
