  • 5"x7" orange polka-dot scrapbook paper – directions below
  • White cardstock or computer printer paper
  • Fine-tip green marker, rubber stamps, ink, or desktop publishing program & printer
  • 5"x7" folded white cardstock
  • 2½"x7" yellow patterned scrapbook paper
  • 1/16" hole punch
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hot water
  • Large pan
  • Medium-size glass bowl
  • 8½"x11" white scrapbook paper
  • Watercolor brush
  • Wax paper

DIRECTIONS:

1. Place a light coat of Aleene’s® Crystal Clear Acid Free Tacky Spray™ on the back of the orange and yellow scrapbook paper. Attach the orange scrapbook paper onto the front of the folded white cardstock and then place the yellow scrapbook paper over the left side of the orange paper.
2. Cut a 2¾"x3¼" rectangle from white cardstock and then draw a double border with a fine-tip green marker. Use rubber stamps and green ink to stamp the words “Happy Birthday.”
3. As an alternative to rubber stamping, use a desktop publishing computer program to create a 2¾"x3¼" rectangle. Add a green double border around the rectangle and then type birthday wishes on the bottom of the rectangle. Print the design on the computer paper cardstock and cut out the rectangle.
4. Position the earrings on the center of the rectangle and then draw a small dot with the pencil to indicate where to punch the hole for the earring hooks. Using the dots as a guide, punch a hole for each earring.
5. Place the earring hooks into the holes in the paper. Apply a Velcro® Mini Fasteners Dot behind each flower charm and green glass bead to secure the earrings in place. Tip: Place both sides of the Velcro® Mini Fasteners onto the back of the Emerald glass bead before placing the earrings onto the card.
6. Attach a Velcro® Mini Fasteners Triangle to each corner on the back of the rectangle paper and then secure the rectangle to the center of the card.
7. Use Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue® to fasten a button to the top and bottom of the card and then to attach the Orange Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Crystals™ on top of the button. Let the glue dry.

Polka-Dot Scrapbook Paper Directions:
8. Place white scrapbook paper on a piece of wax paper to protect the work surface. Apply dots of Tulip® Fashion Art Resist™ onto the white paper. Let dry completely.
9. Prepare the Tulip® One-Step Fashion Dyes™ according to the package directions. Place 1/4 cup of red dye into the glass bowl. Add 1/8 cup of yellow dye to red dye. Use the watercolor brush to apply the mixed dyes to the paper. Let the paper dry completely. Let the dye set for 4-6 hours.
10. Fill a large pan with hot water. Placing the dyed paper into the hot water, carefully rinse the paper to remove the Fashion Art Resist™. Allow the paper to dry flat. Use the paper in this project or scan the paper into computer to print multiple copies for future use.

Emerald Charm Earrings for Birthday Greetings Card

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2 green glass shiny faceted 13mmx20mm oval beads
  • 2 assorted square loop chain links
  • 1 set fish-hook earrings
  • 2 clear glass seed beads
  • 2 silver-plated 1mm oval chain links
  • 2" headpins
  • Two 6mm jump rings
  • 2 peridot flower charms
  • Flat-nose pliers
  • Round-nose pliers
  • Wire cutters

DIRECTIONS:

1. Attach the flower charm to the 1mm oval-chain link with the jump ring that accompanies the flower charm.
2. Free the large square link from the assorted-square loop chain by cutting the links above and below it.
3. Use a 6mm jump ring to connect one end of the square link and the flower charm together. Use a second 6mm jump ring to connect the previous jump ring to the loop in the fish-hook earring.
4. Thread the faceted green glass bead and then the glass seed bead onto the headpin. Place the flat-nose pliers on the headpin slightly above the glass seed bead and then create a right angle. Position the round-nose pliers just above the bend in the headpin. Grab the free end of the headpin with the chain-nose pliers and curl the headpin wire around the round-nose pliers to create a loop. Attach this loop to the bottom end of the square link. Finish off the connection by wrapping the headpin wire onto itself just under the loop.
5. Remove excess wire with the wire cutters.
6. Repeat the previous steps to create a second earring.

Tip: Individual links from a chain can be an alternative to using round jump rings in many earring designs.

Love Greeting Card for Forever Hearts Earrings

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2½"x3½" blue and white striped scrapbook paper
  • Blue ink
  • Earrings
  • Low-tack masking tape
  • 5"x7" orange polka-dot scrapbook paper
  • Fine-tip red marker
  • Rubber stamps and ink: red, distressed sage or brown
  • Desktop publishing program & printer, optional
  • Dye inks
  • Red ribbon, 1/4"x8"
  • Spray glue
  • Tacky glue
  • Velcro® Mini Fasteners: 3/8" Dots
  • 5 x 7" folded white cardstock
  • 4"x6" white vellum paper
  • 3½"x5" yellow-pattern scrapbook paper
  • 1/16" hole punch
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Stamp sponges

DIRECTIONS:

1. Place a light coat of spray glue on the back of the orange, blue and white striped, and yellow scrapbook papers. Attach the orange scrapbook paper onto the front of the folded white cardstock. Create a heart with the vellum paper by tearing the paper to create a deckled edge. Use a stamp sponge to apply light-blue dye ink to the deckled edge of the heart.
2. Glue the yellow scrapbook paper over the lower part of the orange paper and the blue and white striped paper over the left side of the yellow scrapbook paper.
3. Tie a small bow in the right side of the ribbon and then use tacky glue to secure it over the blue and white striped and yellow scrapbook papers. Let the glue dry.
4. Cut a 2¾"x3¼" rectangle from white cardstock. Use low-tack masking tape to create a 1/8" border around the rectangle and then use a stamp sponge to lightly apply distressed sage or brown ink to the exposed area of the paper. Remove the tape and then draw a broken-line border using a fine-tip red marker. Use rubber stamps and red ink to stamp the word LOVE.
5. An alternate method is to use a desktop publishing program to create a 2¾"x3¼" rectangle. Add a broken-line border 1/4" from the edge of the rectangle and then fill the area inside the border with an off-white color. Type the word LOVE on the bottom of the rectangle. Print the design on the computer cardstock and cut out the rectangle.
6. Position the earrings on the center of the rectangle and then use a pencil to draw a small dot that indicates where to punch the hole for the earring hooks. Using the dots as a guide, punch a hole for each earring.
7. Place the earring hooks into the holes in the paper. Apply a Velcro® Mini Fasteners Dot behind each heart to hold the earrings in place.
8. Attach a Velcro® Mini Fasteners Dot to the corners on the back of the rectangle and then secure the rectangle to the front of the card.

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2 round 8mm dark red crystal beads
  • 2 faux pearls or white glass seed beads
  • 1 set fish-hook earrings
  • 2 silver-placed bicones
  • 2 silver-plated headpins
  • 2 silver-plated heart lockets
  • Two 4mm jump rings
  • 20 gauge stringing beading wire
  • Chain-nose pliers
  • Flat-nose pliers
  • Round-nose pliers
  • Ruler
  • Wire cutters

DIRECTIONS:

1. Unroll a section of the 20-gauge wire. Thread the silver-plated bicone bead, faux pearl, and then the crystal bead onto the wire.
2. Place the flat-nose pliers on the wire, 3/4" below the cut edge of the wire and then create a right angle with the pliers. Use the round-nose pliers to create a loop by placing the pliers at the edge of the cut wire and rolling them towards the right-angle bend in the wire. Open the loop with the chain-nose pliers and then slip the heart locket onto the loop. Close the loop with the chain-nose pliers.
3. Push all the beads on the wire to the loop that was just created. Place the flat nose pliers flush with the end of the crystal bead and then create a right angle bend in the wire. Use wire cutters to cut the wire, 3/4" from the right angle. Create a loop in the wire and then attach the jump ring to the loop. Attach the jump ring to the fish-hook earring.
4. Repeat the previous steps to create a second earring.
