Easter Easy Layers Cake

  • 4.5 lb. Tub of White Icing (6-1/2 cups)
  • Mixing bowls (5)
  • Easy Layers!™ 6" Cake Pan Set
  • 14-1/2" x 20" Cooling Grid
  • 9" Angled Spatula
  • Disposable Decorating Bags
  • Star Decorating Tip 1M (5 needed)
  • Cake Circle or Pedestal
  • Royal Blue Icing Color*
  • Black Icing Color*
  • Kelly Green Icing Color*
  • Violet Icing Color*
  • Burgundy Icing Color*
  • Red-Red Icing Color
  • Ivory Icing Color*
  • Gold Yellow Icing Color*
  • Favorite White Cake Recipe or Mix (3-1/2 to 4 cups)
*Combine Black/Royal Blue to get blue shown. Combine Kelly green, Royal Blue and Black to get green shown. Combine Violet and Burgundy to get violet shown. Use Red-Red to get the pink shown. Combine Ivory and Gold Yellow to get yellow shown.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Make cake batter according to recipe. Divide into five bowls, about 5 to 6 oz. of batter in each.
  2. Tint batter using above color combinations to achieve pastel colors shown. Pour one batter color in each cake pan.
  3. Bake and cool cakes according to recipe directions.
  4. While cakes are cooling, tint icing. Divide white icing into five bowls, about 1 1/4 cups in each and tint to match batter colors.
  5. Assemble cake. Place first layer on cake circle or pedestal. Use spatula and coordinating color icing to ice layer smooth; stack with next layer. Continue icing and adding layers. Swirl icing on top layer with spatula.
  6. Prepare five decorating bags with each color icing and 1M tips; pipe two rows of icing around each layer with coordinating color.
  7. Makes about 12 servings.
