difficult to empty tool

Reviewer: joni, 07/02/2010

These work well but I found some Japanese manufactured ones that are cheaper, lighter and accomplish the same job. The main drawback is YOU CANNOT EASILY EMPTY THE PAPER DOTS after you punch the hole. There is a slot on the side and you have to jam a paperclip or something in the side and force them out the tip. Don't wait until it is full or you will be stuck. empty it after every 5 punches or so.

I'm in the minority but....

Having never used the hammer to install eyelets, I didn't have anything to compare it to but, this is my review. Hole punch works fine (although loud and more difficult than a hole puncher), but when I used it to set eyelets it was so disappointing! I pushed down on it to set my eyelet and it did nothing so I did it again, and again. I ended up having to turn the force all the way up and not only was it very hard for me (I have CFS and it is hard to push something this hard), but I had to do it anywhere from 7-9 times on each of my 3/16 eyelets (using cardstock) just to get them to flatten. By the time they finally do flatten they are mangled. I ended up buying the Crop-A-Dile Big Bite - it's a DREAM compared to this!

great tool

Having always used the old-fashioned hammer to install eyelets, snap & grommets I was a little leary of this tool - seemed too simple. It really is as simple as it sounds and works perfectly. I could never get equal pressure around the entire eyelet with a hammer or I'd hit it too hard and tear the item I was working on - this works perfecly everytime.

Best setter ever!!

I LOVE this thing!! It has replaced all my other setters as the best! Love, love, love it!

RUN to buy

Reviewer: Anonymous, 10/17/2007

This has altered my views on eyelets overall. I was ready to buy a glue gun and metal embellishments rather than set another eyelet. I have the fiskars setter, the crop-a-dile and the scraparatus. Nothing worked. But I read the reviews on this and decided to buy. It WORKS!! On a hard surface all you hear is a click. It's so much quieter than fiskars. LOVE this product.

very good

Reviewer: Diane, 07/04/2007

I too have been crawling around finding a hard surface the kitchen floor won. I have just purchased this in England where I live and it was a good job i read your reviews first because the bang when it clicks (and you do have to do it a couple of times) is a bit startling at first. However it does the job well and the ease of use is excellent.

It's so easy!

Reviewer: Fran, 06/21/2007

Wow...I cannot say enough about this thing. Gone are the days of using a hammer and setter to add eyelets. This thing is great. You can change the tension...which makes it great for anyone. I love the little mat. You get lots of different sized tips and it comes in a great little tin. It is really nice. It is not as quiet as I would have liked it to be, but I will take the noise over the ease of use. I am definitely recommending this to all my friends.

Best Eyelet Setter on Market!!

Reviewer: Shawna, 11/28/2006

I have 5 eyelet setters, and just purchsed this (I am disabled from being injured in a major accident) and I have trouble setting eyelets with all the other setters, This one is my favorite for ease of use and getting the perfect splay (which is hugely important!!) As well its fairly quiet, compared to many others (this is not silent but quiet) In case you are wondering which I have compared with, the Silent Setter is too hard to press if your eyelets are not aluminum, the Crop-A-Dile is hard to line up without dropping (you have to hold it rather than using the table), and the Fiskars (3 pc set) ALL of which don't splay corrctly- except of course the hammer (which takes too much effort). FINALLY this is IT! LOVE IT!
