Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft, blended fiber, and excellent to work with As a full time Fiber Artist, I find the yarn is great to work with - absolutely NO pilling because when I DO wash knitted garments, I always wash them alone (agitation against other fabrics will make the BEST yarn pill) . As far as "odor" when wet, there MAY be a scent of wet animal because this IS a wool blend, and wet wool has a particular scent. Using Eucalan or Soak that doesn't require rinsing is a MUCH better choice for woolens. Woolite is really not good for wool. Stitch definition is excellent, I've found no knots or "bad areas" in my skeins (15 purchased and 12 used so far) and the yarn has an excellent hand. Nice drape, and yet it has nice body as well. A fantastic all around yarn, BUT, it is a bit pricey for every day use - that's why I only buy on sale or with a coupon or both!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Woolite is not good to use on wool! I haven't used this yarn yet, but wanted to reply to the review who washed it with Woolite. Woolite is not a good thing to use on handknits. This yarn is supposed to be machine washable. If you're hand washing wool items, the best thing to use is a wool wash like eucalon that doesn't get rinsed out. And yes, wet wool smells like a wet animal, because that is what it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Martha Stewart yarn purchase I've used Martha Stewart Crafts yarn before. It's a very soft and workable yarn. I'm using it in a baby blanket pattern thru Lion Brand yarn. Lion discontinued some of their cotton ease colors, Martha Stewart Crafts yarn is a good substitute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Baby Blanket Yarn While I do feel that it's expensive, I just buy it on sale. I've made several blankets out of this and have been very happy with how they've turned out. About the comment about it smelling like "wet dog": It has wool in it, so that's true of any wool. Once it dries, it doesn't smell at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Smells Like Wet Dog I had a similar experience to another reviewer. The first time I washed the baby blanket it smelled like a wet dog. Using a mild soap like Woolite two more times did nothing to change this. My husband says it certainly doesn't smell soft and cuddly. All the time I spent making these blankets and now I can't gift them to the new parents! Lion Brand has been very resistant to this complaint and is refusing to do anything about refunding the cost of three blankets worth of yarn. And they claim they cannot recompense for time spent on knitting a project. They claim that Woolite is a solvent. This has been a waste of three months of knitting and I have no gifts for these families. I would suggest if you really want to use this yarn, well don't, but if you must, only buy one skein, make a gauge swatch then wash and dry it. If it smells and pills like crazy you will only be out one skein, not 15.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent yarn! I love this yarn for making handknit toys! It's such a nice quality yarn for a super reasonable price. I noticed that Joann is only carrying this online now and hope they would bring it back to the stores. I hope they don't stop carrying it altogether!! This yarn is soft and gives good stitch definition and the colors are excellent. I've knit many toys with this and the results are excellent!
