okay thread, horrible packaging
We had to get some coats & clark thread for a quick embroidery job. It was obvious that Coats & Clark only manufactures the thread, they don't use it. If they did, the packaging would be manageable. Most ridiculous I've ever seen.

This thread is gorgeous!
I bought 3 spools of the gold metallic thread to make an appliqué quilt. The thread does fly off the spool, but that’s easily remedied with a net sleeve. I’ve used one spool to stitch the background of 9 quilt blocks and the highlight stitching on them. Still have thread left to stitch several more quilt blocks.

This is a quality thread!
I always use Coats and Clark embroidery thread. The metallic thread shows nicely on all my projects. I slow my machine down and use my embroidery or metallic needle with perfect results. When I buy Coats and Clark thread I know I'm getting quality. This company has been in business for generations.

Tension is KEY
I too had problems with this thread breaking after a minimum number of stitches on my machine embroidery. It unspools quickly and is hard to control right off the spindle so grab one of those little plastic mesh sleeves and slip that over your spool before you put it on the machine! My tension is a little less than 2 using this thread and it stitched the image with no problems on the top where it matters.......some bundling underneath but for my purposes it will be hidden.

The thread always breaks
I love Coats and Clark threads and use them all the time for our embroidery business. I have a customer who is branding clothing and this thread is a major part of their brand. It doesnt matter what adjustments have been made to the machine the thread still breaks all the time.. A 16 minute job ends up taking almost an hour because it snaps all the time..

Beautiful, Easy to Use
I have had this thread for years. Took it out, and it still sews like a champ. Prettier than other silver metallic threads that I have--Sulky and Madeira. Tension must be loosened, and speed reduced, but it looks beautiful on my embroidery!

This is great metallic thread.
This metallic is beautiful. You need to lower the top tension (sometimes by half) and use the correct needle (90/14 metallic). It does not twist or kink like the other brand at Joann's. Great results.

Easily shreds
I bought multiple colors of this thread, and It is beautiful, if you can get it to work. It shreds easily and you have to be very careful with the tension. I’m not sure about how long it’ll last. I think it’s oberpriced for what you’re getting.
