Beret Band Circumference: 22" stretched

24 sts and 36 rnds = 4" in Stockinette stitch. Use any
size needles necessary to obtain the specified gauge.

MITTEN (Make 2)
Cuff: With dpns, cast on 44 sts. Divide sts evenly onto 3 needles
and join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 2".
Next Rnd: * K2tog, yo; rep from * around.
Thumb Gusset:
Inc Rnd: K2, pm, M1, pm, knit to end of rnd – 45 sts, including 1 st
between markers.
Knit 1 rnd.
Inc Rnd: K2, slip marker, M1, knit to 1 st before next marker, M1,
k1, slip marker, knit to end of rnd – 47 sts, including 3 sts between
Rep last 2 rnds 6 more times until there are 59 sts, including 15 sts
between markers. Work even in St st for 1" (work measures
approximately 5" from beginning).
Next Rnd: K2, remove marker, slip next 15 sts to holder, remove
marker, cast on 4 sts over gap, knit to end of rnd – 48 sts.
Hand: Continuing on 48 sts of last rnd only, work even in St st for
1" or until work measures 6" from beg.
Next Rnd: * K2tog, yo; rep from * around.
Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 1". Bind off.
Thumb: Divide sts from holder onto 3 needles.
Attach yarn, k15 sts, pick up and knit 3 sts along
edge of hand – 18 sts. Join and place marker for
beg of rnd.
Dec Rnd: K14, k2tog, k1, k2tog – 16 sts rem.
Work in k2, p2 ribbing for ½". Bind off.
Finishing: Weave in ends.
