Description

Nautical Knot Necklace

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1-1/4 yard of 5/16” wide twisted cord – gold
  • 1/2 yard of 1/4" wide chain
  • 2 – cord caps
  • 2 – split rings
  • 1 – jewelry toggle closure
  • Scissors
  • Jewelry adhesive
  • Needle nose pliers

DIRECTIONS:

1. Cut cord in half, so there are two pieces of equal length. Seal cut ends by dipping into jewelry adhesive. Allow to dry completely.
2. Lay one length of cord horizontally on a flat surface. Lay the other length directly underneath the first, matching the ends and making sure the cords are touching.
3. Find the center of the cords. Treating both cords as one, make a loop at the center, and then pull one set of ends through the resulting loop, forming a knot. Tighten knot, adjusting as needed to keep the knot at the center of the necklace.
4. Place a drop of jewelry adhesive inside one cord cap; place another drop on each of the two cord ends on one side of the necklace. Push the cord ends inside the cord cap securely. Repeat with remaining cord cap on other end of necklace. Allow adhesive to dry completely.
5. Attach toggle end of clasp to one end of necklace, looping the clasp attachment through the loop on the cord cap. Repeat on other end of necklace with loop end of clasp. Close all loops securely with pliers.
