MAT SMELL
This is to Linda--- The smell does go away, eventually. I fully agree that the Olfa mats do have a nasty odor to them, but I can also verify that the smell DOES go away. Store it in the garage or basement when you are not actually using it for awhile. But rest assure that the smell WILL leave it. I have only noticed this smell on the OLFA mats. I wouldn't take it back, because after the stink is gone, it's a VERY 'helpful friend'! Happy cutting......
Great size but smells!
I opened this mat up when I got it and it was a great size, spins well, etc. but the smell is really strong. I didn't realize that it was self healing and I think that is where the smell comes from. Not sure I will keep it if it continues to wreak. Wish they made them not self-healing and that would take care of the problem.

Am so happy I purchased this mat -it is so useful to me and NO SMELL!!! Smooth rotation. I am going to purchase the smaller one to use on my smaller work area!
