Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 3 skeins of craft designer jute (4 ply, 72 lb)
  • Wooden handles
  • Spray paint: Raspberry, Hot Pink

DIRECTIONS:

Chain 18
Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 9dc 1hdc, 2 sc, sl st in last chain, chain 1, turn work.
Rows 2-4: Skip first stitch, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 9dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc, sl st in last stitch, chain 1, turn.
Row 5: Skip first stitch, 2 sc, 1 hdc, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch, repeat from * 3 more times, 2dc in next stitch, 1 hdc, 2 sc, sl st in last stitch, chain 1, turn.
Rows 6-14: Skip first stitch, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 14dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc, sl st in last stitch, chain 1, turn.
Row 15: Skip first stitch, 2 sc, 1 hdc, *dc2tog, dc, repeat from * 3 more times, dc2tog, 1 hdc, 2 sc, sl st in last stitch, chain 1, turn.
Rows 16-18: Skip first stitch, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 9dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc, sl st in last stitch, chain 1, turn.
Row 19: Skip first stitch, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 9dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc, sl st in last stitch. Cut remaining jute, sew in tails.

Fold the piece in half length-wise. Lay flat.

Using spray paint, spray the Hot Pink lightly on the bottom half of the piece. With the Raspberry, spray the bottom third of the piece to create the ombre effect.

With the remaining jute, sew the handles to each of the curved edges. Attach at either side of the wooden handle, and at the bottom middle.
