DESCRIPTION +

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cardstock: yellow, orange, blue
  • Balloons
  • Newspaper or similar
  • Paperboard (cereal box, ect)
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Large bowl or pan
  • Hot glue gun
  • X-Atco┬« knife and blades
  • Scissors
  • Modge Podge┬«
  • Templates (provided)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Blow up 2 balloons, one smaller for the head and one larger for the body.
  2. Cut or rip strips of newspaper.
  3. Make paper mache:
  4. Mix a 1:1 ratio of water and flour, whisk until no lumps are left.
  5. Add more water until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. Dip strips into mixture and begin to paper mache the both balloons.
  7. Allow to dry completely.
  8. Repeat steps 4-7 one or two more times.
  9. Once completely dry, pop balloons and remove.
  10. Cut hole in bottom of smaller balloon so it fits nicely over larger balloon.
  11. Rip the yellow paper in to strips and adhere the strips using Modge Podge®.
  12. Allow to dry.
  13. Glue smaller piece to top of larger piece.
  14. Draw a square approximately a 4ÔÇŁ on the back of the larger piece.
  15. Cut along the 2 sides and bottom edge, creating a flap.
  16. Cut a 4" x 2" piece of paperboard; fold in half.
  17. Glue to bottom edge of flap, lining up folded edge with bottom edge.
  18. Cut a 1/2" x 2" strip of yellow paper.
  19. Fold in half and glue to create a loop.
  20. Glue to paper board edge.
  21. Modge Podge® edges of flap with yellow paper.
  22. Cut templates out of orange paper.
  23. Glue corners of beak together and glue to the smaller piece, the head.
  24. Cut fringe piece; create fringe by rolling in on itself and glue.
  25. Adhere to top of head.
  26. Glue feet to bottom of body piece.
  27. Cut two small circles out of blue paper, glue above beak to create eyes.
