SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Lily┬« Sugar' n Cream┬« Super Size (4 oz; 200 yds): Ecru 3 balls
  • Lily┬« Sugar 'n Cream┬« (2.5 oz; 120 yds): Ombre: 2 oz; 95 yds):
    Hippi 1 ball or Hot Pink 1 ball

DIRECTIONS:

Note: 1 Solid ball will make 3 Pencil Holders. 1 Ombre ball will make 2 Pencil Holders.

Size
- U. S. D or 3 crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Fabric stiffener (optional).
Gauge - 19 sc and 20 rows= 4 ins

With pair of needles, cast on 4 sts.
Knit 8 rows (garter st).

Beg working in rnds: Cast on 5 sts. 9 sts.
Divide sts evenly on 3 needles. Join in rnd, placing a marker on first st.
Knit in rnds until work from first rnd measures 5".
Next rnd: K4. Cast off 5 sts loosely.

Beg working in rows: Knit 5 rows (garter st) over 4 sts.
Next row: (K2tog) twice. 2 sts.
Next row: K2. Cast off.

FINISHING
Sew button to bottom of Pencil Holder as shown in picture.

Twisted Cord: Cut 2 strands of yarn 75" long. With both strands tog, hold one end and with someone holding other end, twist strands to the right until they begin to curl. Fold the 2 ends tog and tie in a knot so they will not unravel. The strands will now twist themselves tog. Sew to top of pencil holder as shown in picture.

Pom-pom: Wind yarn around 3 fingers approx. 50 times. Remove from fingers and tie tightly in center. Cut through each side of loops. Trim to a smooth round shape. Attach to cord end.
