PATTERN STITCHES:

K1, p1 Rib worked in the rnd (multiple of 2 sts)
Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from * around.
Rep Rnd 1 for K1, p1 Rib worked in the rnd.
K2, p2 Rib worked in the rnd (multiple of 4 sts)
Rnd 1: *K2, p2; rep from * around.
Rep Rnd 1 for K2, p2 Rib worked in the rnd.
K2, p1 Rib worked in the rnd (multiple of 3 sts)
Rnd 1: *K2, p1; rep from * around.
Rep Rnd 1 for K2, p1 Rib worked in the rnd.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Sleeves & Body are worked separately from the lower edge up to the armhole. Pieces are joined & worked in the round, decreasing to shape yoke.
  2. Use different color markers for beg of rnd marker & for increase markers.

SLEEVE: Make 2.

With smaller double-pointed needles, cast on 22 sts. Divide sts onto double pointed needles.
Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle. Be careful not to twist sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib worked in rnd until piece measures 1-1/2" from beg. Change to larger double-pointed needles.
Next Rnd: Kfb in each st around — 44 sts at the end of this rnd.
Work 4 rnds in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd).
In next rnd, markers are placed to indicate where incs are to be worked. Use a different color for the inc markers than for the beg of rnd marker.
Next (Set Up) Rnd: K6, place marker (pm), *k11, pm; rep from * around to last 5 sts, k5 — 4 inc markers placed at the end of this rnd.
Next (Inc) Rnd: *K to next inc marker, slip marker (sm), k3, m1; rep from * around, k to end — 48 sts at the end of this rnd. Work 4 rnds even in St st.
Next (Inc) Rnd: *K to 3 sts before next inc marker, m1, k3, sm; rep from * around, k to end — 52 sts at the end of this rnd. Work 4 rnds even in St st.
Rep last 10 rnds for a total of 84 sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 12-1/2" from beg.
Next Rnd: Bind off first 12 sts, k to end — 72 sts at the end of this rnd.
Place remaining sts on a holder and set aside. Make 2nd Sleeve in the same way.

BODY: Beg at lower edge, with size 9, 24" circular needle, cast on 132 sts. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Join, being careful not to twist sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib worked in the rnd until piece measures 2-1/2" from beg.
Change to size 10, 24" circular needle.
In next rnd, markers are placed to indicate where incs are to be worked. Use a different color for the inc markers than for the beg of rnd marker.
Next (Set Up) Rnd: K8, pm, k17, pm, *k16, pm, k17, pm; rep from * around to last 8 sts, k8 — 8 inc markers placed at the end of this rnd.
Begin 10 round increase sequence. Incs have been staggered to avoid creating a distinct inc line.
Next (Inc) Rnd: *K to next inc marker, sm, k3, m1; rep from * around, knit to end — 140 sts at the end of rnd.
Work 4 rnds even in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd).
Next (Inc) Rnd: *K to 3 sts before next inc marker, m1, k3, sm; rep from * around, k to end — 148 sts at the end of this rnd. Work 4 rnds even in St st. Rep last 10 rnds until there are 212 sts, changing to size 10, 36" circular needle when sts have been sufficiently increased. Work even in St st until piece measures 16" from beg.
Divide for Front and Back.
Next Rnd: Bind off first 12 sts, k until there are 94 sts on right needle for front, bind off next 12 sts, k across next 94 sts for back — 188 sts at the end of this rnd.
Join Sleeves to front and back. Next Rnd: Removing inc markers & changing to size 10 60" circular needle, k across 94 sts for front, k across 72 sts of 1 Sleeve, k across 94 sts for back, k across 72 sts of 2nd Sleeve — 332 sts at the end of rnd. Beg of rnd marker remains in place. Work in rnd over all sts of front, back & Sleeves.
Shape Yoke. Work 4 rnds even in St st. Next (Dec) Rnd: K2, k2tog, *k7, k2tog; rep from * around to last 4 sts, k4 — 295 sts at the end of this rnd. Work 4 rnds even in St st.
Change to size 10, 36" circular needle, then to size 10, 24" circular needle when sts have been sufficiently decreased.
