SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 12" fabric squares, assorted prints
  • 1/2 yd iron-on fleece
  • Pencil & paper
  • Sewing machine
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Floss
  • Buttons
  • Iron
  • Batting for stuffing

DIRECTIONS:

PIN CUSHION WITH BUTTON TRIM:

  1. Cut two 9" circles each from fabric and fleece.
  2. Iron fleece to back of both fabric circles.
  3. Right sides together sew 1/4" seam around circle, leaving an opening for turning.
  4. Turn, stuff. Sew opening closed.
  5. Wrap with floss into 4 or 6 sections.
  6. Embellish with buttons along edge and in the center.

PATCHWORK PIN CUSHION:

  1. Cut three 3-1/2"x12" strips of fabric for top and 3 strips for bottom.
  2. Cut two 9" fleece circles.
  3. Sew 3 strips together for top and 3 strips for bottom using a 1/4" seam allowance.
  4. Cut finished pieced strips into 9" circles.
  5. Iron fleece onto fabric circles.
  6. Right sides together sew 1/4" seam around circle, leaving an opening for turning.
  7. Turn, stuff. Sew opening closed.
  8. Wrap with floss into 4 or 6 sections.
  9. Embellish the center with buttons.

PIE-SHAPE PIN CUSHION:

  1. Draw a 9" circle on paper.
  2. Divide circle into 6 pie shapes.
  3. Cut 1 section out for pattern.
  4. Trace and cut out sections using 6 prints.
  5. Piece 6 pieces together with a 1/4" seam allowance to form circle.
  6. Use the finished circle as a pattern to cut out bottom and 2 fleece pieces.
  7. Iron fleece to the top and bottom.
  8. Right sides together sew 1/4" seam around circle, leaving an opening for turning.
  9. Turn, stuff. Sew opening closed.
  10. Wrap with floss into 4 or 6 sections.
  11. Embellish the center with buttons.
