When Mady’s sketching a new piece, it reflects the mood she’s in and her personality at the time. Nature has also been an inspiration for this 13-year-old. Her collection for the show was inspired by a calm current & exuberant sunlight.
Mady's design featured waves of oceanic blue that rippled, cascaded & flowed down the runway.
Tips for working with delicate fabrics:
Spread out the fabric on a large surface, so you won’t have to move it to cut the pieces. Wait 30 minutes for the fabric to relax before cutting
Baste or place fine new pins along seams at frequent intervals. Be careful not to stretch the fabric.
Sew from the hem up to the waist to avoid the grainline. When using French seams use directional sewing for both seams. French seams stabilize fabric and they look pretty!
Pin bias-cut garments & garments with bias onto a dress form and leave them hanging for 24 hours before finishing them. Seams tend to fall straight with a little help from gravity.
