This is a horrific machine to use for 1ST time users! I have a windows 8 laptop and this thing doesn't work with it. I called Cricut & was told it was my firewall, turned off firewall, uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, used administrative rights and everytime I try to drag/drop an image I get the black screen of death & have to restart the program. Used the windows 7 laptop, downloaded immediately, but the craft room bogs down, freezes and then stops. CANNOT CUT 1/4 TO 1/2 " LETTERS which is what I wanted it for. Rips & shreds all material if you're trying to use it for projects with small fonts/pics. Now I am stuck with it due to buying digital font online, over $100 worth. Should have bought the Sillouette, you can use any font.
My husband bought me my Cricut Mini for christmas. When trying it for the first time it printed out the thank you card then after that it would scuff my card stock. I tried every thing to cure it. I first cleaned the blade but that didnt help. In the end i replaced the blade and i have never looked back. It has been working great ever since. So before giving up on it please stick with it. I think it is great and am so happy with it.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. The only cut that worked was the practice project. After that all the machine did was shred my card stock. It didnt matter what the blade or pressure was set at. If it was too light it wouldnt cut through the paper, to heavy and it would shred the paper. I tried all the tips on google. Nothing worked. So I am retruning it
I had my first Cricut Mini less than 3 months. I cut less than 30 sheets of cardstock. It broke. It to two weeks just to get ProvoCraft to look at it. It has been nearly four weeks since it broke and I am currently waiting for the replacement.
I just bought the new Mini. I had heard the first version was not very good. This one is sooooooo nice. The Out of Box was just superb. Nice instructions and step by step. Got 500 free images and the cutting mats are really nice too. Highly recommend it.
Provo Craft customer service is bad. No help on the weekend, which is the time most will be using this. And the online form is a mess. So if you have a problem they won't be any help in fixing it. If you are planing to use .ai .eps files that your created your self and want to use this machine to cut them you can't. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!!!! A waste of hard earned money.
I have all of the machines. Next to the Imagine, this machine cuts the best. The Expression is known not to be able to cut the most intricate cuts cleanly. The Mini, does not have this problem. The only bad reviews on this machine come from people who don't know how to use it and that's not fair to the machine. Cricut Craft Room is an easy tool to use BUT you have to own cartridges. The Cricut has always been a cartridge based system. If you aren't buying from them directly, then it is up to you to find out what your are getting.
I have been looking into buying a Cricut machine but was afraid to spend the $300+ to buy one. When the Cricut Mini came out I could not wait to buy it. It is so easy to use and I started using it right when I got home. For being a beginnger user I found it very easy to figure out how to use the machine. The quick start guide was a huge help. I can't wait to start making more things!
