Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm not sure if this works I bought this product to use on a red tee-shirt that would not, for the life of it, stop getting red on everything it touched when dry. The white hangers would turn red, clothes it touched turned red, it was just hopeless. Then I saw this product, which people said would work well on red dyes. I boiled water with the shirt and retayne in it two separate times, and still, the shirt's dye is unstoppable. So, I'm not entirely sure what to think--if it is the shirt that is just so impossibly wrong, if this product doesn't work that well, or, if I'm just incompetent and don't know what I'm doing. In any scenario, my shirt still bleeds so I have to give this product only two stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a must have I have used Retayne since 2002 when I discovered it It is a wonderful product that prevents me from worrying that I will give someone a quilt, runner or even a potholder that runs into itself, or into other items that the recipient washes it with. Even Alex Anderson stated in one of her shows that her non-prewashed fabrics ran in the wash, and she had to seek expert help to restore her quilt. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely works! I've used Retayne for many years to prewash all dark colors, such as reds, greens, blues and black, as well as any prints that contain dark colors. It prevents the colors from bleeding into surrounding fabrics. Well worth doing. Followthe directions carefully!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! I tried everything....vinegar, salt, alum, tartar...nothing....the cotton dyed yoga pants just kept bleeding and bleeding! Then! I tried Retayne and wow...the rinse water ran clear! I highly recommend this product. The yoga pants were purchased on Esty and were dyed blue....dark at the waist and lighter at the ankle. The person selling them said they set the dye with vinegar. None of the usual stuff works on cotton except Retayne!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Retayne I love using red in my quilts. Retayne keeps the excess dye in the water and doesn't bleed on the other colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have used for years! I use this on fabric and on new clothes like jeans that are dark and my husband's Dockers. I find that the material now wears out faster than the color! It is getting harder to find this in stores because everyone knows how great it is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Retayne Maybe for some! It did not work for me, actually made it worse, but it does say for cotton and what I used it on was I believe Rayon. So it is probably great for its intended use. I hope it would work because I really loved the shirt but had to give up in the end!
