SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Australian Superfine Merino by Cleckheaton, 8-ply 2.3oz (65g) balls - Qty. 2
  • 1 set size 5 (3.75mm) double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to give correct gauge
  • Yarn needle for sewing in ends

    • MEASUREMENTS:
    • To Fit Head
    • Woman - 22" (56 cm)
    • Man - 23" (58 cm)

    • GAUGE:
    • 32 sts and 32 rows to 4” (10cm) over relaxed rib.
    • Check your gauge carefully.
    • If less sts to 4” (10cm) use smaller needles, if more sts use larger needles.
    • NOTE – This Beanie is worked on smaller needles and at a firmer gauge than usually recommended for this yarn.

    • DIRECTIONS:

    • Using set of size 5 double-pointed needles, cast on 128 (136) sts and divide as evenly as possible between 3 needles. Join to work in rounds, taking care not to twist cast-on edge.
    • Beg Rib –
    • 1st round – * K1, P1, rep from * to end.
    • Rep last round until work measures 7 (7.5”) [18 (19) cm] from beginning.
    • Shape Crown –
    • 1st round – * Ybk, sl 1, K2tog, psso, P1, K3tog, P1, (K1, P1) 12 (13) times, rep from * to end … 112 (120) sts.
    • 2nd and every other round – Rib to end.
