Not meant to hold weight
I would only use these for paper. I put 8 of the squares on the back of a plastic file holder and mounted it to the wall and it fell down within a couple minutes.

Will not adhere to paint at all
I just purchased a pack of the 1/2 pound weight mounting squares for the first time. They do not adhere to the standard, eggshell paint of my office walls. Not for even a moment. I am only trying to hold up printer paper with them, and they are accomplishing 0% of that goal. Would not recommend for anything, at any time. Feel so frustrated I actually was compelled to leave a review, which is not my usual.

Won't buy again

Hard Pass, not Scotch quality
I bought these to hang a ribbon border around my bulletin board, I used more than probably recommended (20) and spaced out for optimal performance and the ribbon just keeps falling off. I spent more on mounting tape than on the actual faux jewel ribbon and am exactly where I started.

They don't hold up anything
I bought these to hang up some postcards and art prints on my walls and they suck! All the artwork falls off my walls in the middle of the night. They are not heavy--truly just pieces of paper and they all have multiple squares attempting to hold them up. I am extremely disappointed and frankly shocked that they can't do this simple thing they were made for. The masking tape is holding up artwork for longer.

Foam Disintegrated
I bought a package of the removable double-stick foam Mounting Squares. I used four of the 16 squares. When I opened the package to use more of the product, I found that the foam between the adhesive layers had disintegrated. The squares fell apart in my hand.

Awful Product - Doesn't Work
I purchased this product and it didn't hold the poster. It caused my daughter's poster to be damaged and when I contacted 3M regarding this, they didn't offer any help. They just said they weren't liable and didn't really care. I'm very disappointed and won't be using their products in the future.

These absolutely suck!
I bought these removable mounting squares for my daughter to use to mount her "artwork" onto the walls. I tried them out before giving them to her, and I am VERY glad I did. The package states that "2 squares hold up to 1/4lb." In my experience, two squares are incapable of holding up a single sheet of 20lb legal-sized paper on a clean semi-gloss-painted wall. A single sheet of 20lb legal-sized paper weighs 1/5 oz. So 3M's claim of the load-bearing capacity of this product is off by a factor of 20.
