EASY LOOPY HAT

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • LION BRAND® WOOL-EASE® (Art. #620) #139 Dark Rose Heather 1 ball or color of your choice
  • Crochet hook size J-10 (6 mm)
  • Large-eyed blunt needle

    • SIZE
    • Finished Circumference About 19 1/2 in. (49.5 cm), will stretch to fit a range of sizes.

    • GAUGE
    • 15 sts + 15 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.
    • BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

    • NOTES
    • 1. Hat is worked as a rectangle with long loops across one long edge to gather with a chain-tie for crown (top of Hat).
    • 2. Short ends of rectangle are seamed to make Hat.

    • DIRECTIONS:

    • Ch 32.
    • Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across – 16 sc.
    • Row 2: Ch 3, turn, sc in first sc, *ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, sc in next sc; rep from * across.
    • Row 3: Ch 18 (to create loop for top of Hat), turn, sc in first sc, *ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, sc in next sc; rep from * across.
    • Row 4: Ch 3, turn, sc in first sc, *ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, sc in next sc; rep from * across.
    • Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in first sc, *ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, sc in next sc; rep from * across.
    • Rows 6-69: Rep Rows 2-5.
    • Rows 70-72: Rep Rows 2-4.
    • Fasten off, leaving a 15 in. (38 cm) long yarn tail for sewing.

    • FINISHING
    • Thread yarn tail into blunt needle. From RS, sew foundation ch to top of Row 72.

    • Cut 2 lengths of yarn, each 4 yds. (4 m) long. With both lengths held tog, ch 90. Fasten off. Weave ch through loops at top of Hat and pull to gather. Tie ch into a bow; tie each end of ch into a knot.
    • Weave in ends.

      • kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st – 1 st increased.
