I was so excited when this arrived, but have to say that I was shocked at how poorly made the base is. The form is fabulous in that you can adjust it, but certainly not worth a penny more than I paid to get it on sale. The base is absolute garbage, but then I am used to a nice, metal base of substance that is on wheels. I'm thrille to have something that is adjustable, but not with the workmanship of the base. Still, the top makes it a nice.
I was so excited to get this product! I do love it and am so glad that I did not pay full price for it. I got it on sale for $89. It works but it is very flimsy and not as sturdy as I expected. Also the same problem as other reviews with the dress form not holding the height. It just keeps sliding down. It's good but definitely not great.
My form came with one hip 1/2" bulging out. I tried to ignore it because I had an extremely important order to fill for a client but within 2 days the bottom of the dressform would not stay attached to the waist. It sags and I constantly have to tighten the screws holding it together. The form also refuses to stay at the height that that I want it to. NO matter how tight i tighten it this thing just won't stay together. Don't waste your money or time. This product is flimsy plastic.
ive never used a real dress form before but i think its great! especially since im just learnin to make clothes. the dress form part kind of wobbles on the stand because it just kinda goes on the stand its not actually fastened. but i think it is very easy to use and there are like 4 parts to put together and it is so simple i didnt even use the instructions! i <3 it!
I am just really starting out making clothes. So I invested in the Singer 150 Sm/Med dress form and I love it. I would recommend this dress form to anyone just starting out!
I got this to sew dresses only on and it works great! I would definitely recommend this especially for beginners (like me)!!Two thumbs up!
I've never owned a dressform before but have worked with them at Sewing School. This dress form was clearly not worth the $99 I paid for it compared to what I have worked with before. But for the price it was the only thing that I could afford at the time. The pole always slips even when my husband tightens it. We had to go to Home Depot and buy a clamp to keep the form from sliding down the pole every time I touched it! I bought the 150 small/medium model because I am a size 16, but it will not adjust to my size so I had to make a duct tape dress form and put over it. Next time I will invest in a sturdier dress form and stay away from Singer products altogether.
Thanks to JoAnn's review system, I was well informed before I bought. As I was warned, the quality and design are stunningly poor. It would not have been difficult to improve it a great deal. I can't believe that this product doesn't hurt Singer's reputation. If you are prepared to be creative, however, at the sale price it is the only affordable thing out there. E.g., I used tape to stabilize the height, because the tightening mechanism doesn't hold. I am leaving it at the measurement below mine and filling it out with batting to exactly match my figure, like couture houses do for their customers. So, with my expectations properly set, I love my dressform.
