I love my machine, I use it all the time for my businees. I sew alot of fleece, flannel, denim and thick fabrics and have not had any trouble with it. When I used it the first time it jammed and I had a couple of problems adjusted my bobbin and thread tension, and now it works great. I keep it clean regulary as I use it everyday. I would recommend it.
I'm not sure what happened to everyone else but I got this machine and it works great and I sew ALOT! I have never owned anything but singer brand sewng machines. I actually prefer them because they seem to have mostly metal gears and such and I think that makes them last longer. I can't actually remember how long I have had this machine, it's been several years and it is still running quite well and I don't have to change the needle unless I do something unwise like try to sew through five layers of denim or a zipper coil :). Of course you do have to keep it clean and oiled which you should do with any sewing machine top quality or not. IOverall I have been very happy with my machine. I definitely got more than I expected for the price
I've had this machine for nearly 5 years and at first, I had many of the same problems that I see in reviews. Some were user error (rtfm) on my part, and some weren't. After the millionth jam while trying to sew a simple pair of shorts, I got fed up and took it to my local repair shop for a tune-up. The difference was so great, that I almost think they switched machines on me. It doesn't eat needles anymore, jams are 99% user error (remember to put the foot down), the buttonholer works smoothly... It's a joy to sew again. I agree that the manual is not complete (doesn't include what kind of bobbin it takes, had to contact Singer for that info.) In conclusion, it's a nice, inexpensive machine that comes out of the box a little de-tuned.
I purchased this sewing machine because it was on sale for $111. I thought that's a good price for a singer. Unfortunally I failed to do my research before buying a sewing machine, and read all the bad reviews after. Never again will I be doing that. You can not even sewing anything without the maching eating your thread a million times or getting jammed. I kept it for a week thinking I just needed to get used to it. Wrong. This machine went through a whole thing of bobbin on 3 attempts at making leg warmers. That's all I made until I got fed up. So in case you are thinking of buying this anyway let me be the first to say YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!
I've been using this machine for 2 years now, (regularly- at least once a week) and my reverse lever stripped/broke yesterday, so I've been using some pliers to turn the dial for reverse. I did have some issues with it jamming in the past, but adjusted the tention a bit and don't have that problem any more. This machine eats needles. I've gone through so many, I've lost count. All I can say is, buy a lot of them on sale! I love how smooth this machine runs otherwise, and it's easy to understand.
This is the worst sewing machine I have ever used! You would expect better from Singer....Sad....I have had nothing but trouble with it since the moment I started sewing. The bobbing does not spin up correctly, the needle gets jammed every other moment, the DVD was missing *though I blame this on the store, which sold it to me*, and the button hold maker does not work, the mechine would not sew forward, and the thread kept breaking.
dont get this!!!its jammed and there is no way to fix it i have looked and have had other people and they have all said to just get a diff. one!!
I received this as a wedding gift. It sewed well one time. Then the thread was caught up repeatedly and it became impossible to properly load the bobbin so that the thread would not jam. It has been very disappointing, and I have taken it to professional quilting friends, my grandmother, and even a fabric store. Not even longtime seamstresses can figure it out. The manual is not as helpful as hoped--and even has what one person thought is an error on the bobbin diagram. It hgas ruined my first experience with sewing.
