I have owned this for 2 years and I wish I would have bought something else. It has been nothing but problems since I received it. Now the plastic bobbin plate is wearing out and the needle down option is not working. I bought mine from Jo Anns and I will never do that again either. In order to use the warranty for repairs I have to drive an hour one way to drop it off at a pick up station. My local store is not a pick up station. Next machine will be bought from a store that does the warranty work there. It takes over 6 weeks to get my machine back. I am simply not happy with the work this machine does or requires and can't wait till my husband tells me to go buy another one. Singer is just not the same quality anymore.
i recieved this machine from my husband for christmas 2011. after constant use, (i've quilted over 40 machine s large quilts...i am very happy..machine does need more light, which i did have to invest in a free arm sewing light. i am very satisfied and seems to be a great machine.
I purchased this machine in may of 2012. I have used it about three times. The needle kept breaking and when I tried replacing it several times, i was greeted with some kind of oil coming out onto my material. I hate the light, that is so bright that I could not see where I was sewing. Basically I live too close to the river to put up with so much irritation!!
I had the machine for less than a year.I had to have it repaired and then more went wrong with it. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing the machine. Will never buy another singer.
i got this for Christmas.. read reviews and was afraid to take it out of the box. However, tried it and LOVED it. every different pattern works. So i decided to make a quick quilt to see how well it works. I've been working on the quilt for almost a week and this is a GREAT machine. Quilt is almost done and its everything my old (30year old singer) did and SO much more. Lighting however, i agree, is a big issue. Should be fixed, LED is NOT an option for sewing machines.
I agree that this machine is a piece of junk. Got it for Christmas and sewed for almost an hour. It made a clunking sound; I figured it had a thread caught in the bobbin shuttle so I removed the bobbin and shuttle-no thread but visable are rub marks in the metal and pieces of plastic. Was told that since it was shipped from out of state I would have to return it to the purchaser fro them to repair! Back to my ancient Kenmore--it works!
I bought this machine because I was a beginner quilter and my Kenmore sewing machine was 40 years old and I decided I wanted something new. What a mistake. After 14 months it had to be tuned up.....really! I never had that with my Kenmore. And now 12 months later it needs to go back in the shop again. I will never ever by another singer product.
had i known that singer makes 2 types of machines the ones called boxed versions which you buy in craft stores which are all plastic inside and the original Singer brand with metal parts.. i would never have wasted my money on this machine. 3and half yrs later its gone for parts.. so disappointed~!!!
