  • 2 yds each, 5-7 fabrics
  • 1 yd each, 2 fabrics: for plain snowflakes, optional
  • 6 yds fabric for backing
  • 3/4 yd fabric for binding
  • Fusible webbing, optional
  • Twin-size quilt batting
  • Basic sewing/quilting supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron, pressing surface
DIRECTIONS: 1/4" seam allowance used throughout

1. Remove selvedges from one edge of each fabric. Determine placement of fabric strips.
Cut strips 60" lengthwise.
Width of strips are cut as follows:
Strip One: 10 1/2"
Strip Two: 4 1/2"
Strip Three: 7 1/2"
Strip Four: 5 1/2"
Strip Five: 9 1/2"
Strip Six: 3 1/2"
Repeat complete sequence for a 2nd set of strips.
Add a 10 1/2" strip as the last strip, for a total of 13 strips.

2. With RS together, stitch strips together. Press seam allowances toward darker fabrics.

3. To apply the 25 snowflakes to quilt top, follow manufacturer's directions for fusible applique, or choose an alternate method.

4. Piece backing to form 66"x91" rectangle.

5. Layer quilt top, batting & backing. Quilt as desired.

6. Cut eight 2 1/2"-wide fabric strips from binding. Stitch short ends. With WS together & long edges even, press.

7. Stitch to quilted top with raw edges even. Turn and whip stitch to quilt back.
